ok guys here it is. I brought the #1 piston on what I think is TDC. I looked through the fly wheel hole and the mark was on #7. I looked under the dist. cap and the rotor button was pointing at about eight o clock( bottom left cap hole). Does it sound like I FINALLY found the #1 plug hole on the cap??

Thanks

Turke is right. The #1 piston needs to be TDC on the compression stroke. At that time the rotor should point to the plug wire that connects to the Number 1 plug.

Try this..take out spark plug #1 keep attached to the wire and to the cap. Put your finger over the #1 spark plug hole. Make sure the plug is grounded. Slowly roll the enging over. When your finger feels the gust of air from the plug hole, you should see the spark come off the spark plug. That should get you close, some fine adjustment may be required when it fires up. You may need to repeat this on the other pistons to assure you are on the right track. Remember the fire order 1-3-4-2.
