Have you guys down there gotten any relief yet? It was on the news up here quite a bit the end of last year. But not any news lately. I was just wondering, now i gotta go out and shovel again. LLR

In north Ms. have slight overage for 2008. But still behind over 20 inches from last year. Pond has all of bottom covered but is down over 2 feet from normal average.

Up heah in yankee land (N. Texas) we are having a beautiful fall, and winter. Just had 3/4" yesterday. This time of year the weather usually warms up a tad and dries up a tad so that you can get your fields prep'd for spring planting and top dress your wheat if you have any. The last couple of weeks were fabulous.

Ponds are 3/4 capacity, ground moisture is fingertip deep and I am looking forward to a beautiful year.

Only problem is figuring out what I am going to do about fertilizer. Soil samples are definitely in vogue this year.

We have been gettin' the "dust settlers" type of rain, usually a couple of tenths here and there. We are 14 inches below normal over the last year. If one goes back 3 or 4 years, we are probably below more than that. I think for the month of Feb. we may be a little above normal. The soil is very dry just below the surface, and many towns and cities still have mandatory water restrictions.

In south Mississippi we were dry in 07 but are in a surplus for 08. Maybe it will keep up at least to normal.

Not all that far south, but this part of Kentucky was in extreme drought all summer and well into fall. Then it started raining.

and raining.

and raining.

We were almost 12" behind average rainfall for the year. We ended up a couple inches over for '07. '08 is off to a soggy start.

I hear ya. It is hard to belive that 4 months ago springs were dry and we were over 12" behind for the year. The Green and Ohio are both out now and every time it thaws you sink past your knee. My grandfather always said it always averages out. The rain was a blessing, just wish we could have done without the tornados and 2" of ice that has been come'n with it.

Don't know where you are, but we're in northeast Tx. and while we've had frequent rain, it only rained small amounts. So yeah, in n.e. Tx we're dry for this time of year.

2005 & 2006 were severe drought years in Texas. 2007 was very, very wet, but now its turned dry again. News stated we were over 2 inches behind for January and haven't had much in Feb. A friend told me the farmer's almanac said 2008 was supposed to be the driest year on record. I have more hay than I can use and was going to sell it. Think I might just hang on to it.
