Is there any harm in trimming three inches of a muffler?

That's about what I trimed off my Farmall C. Used it 1 time and purchased another muffler. Couldn't take the fumes

I once took out an overhead power line to a hay barn with an 856 Farmall. Six inches came off the pipe real quick.

That's gotta be one real tall Farmall. Code calls for minimum 15 foot clearance over road, driveway, parking lot, or any place where vehicle traffic can be expected.

I assume you mean trim the pipe on one end or the other of the muffler... Nope, no harm, other thatn the exhaust will be that much lower, and closer to your face. I've done exactly what you're thinking about, to get the tractor through doorways that were'nt quite tall enough.

If you mean the outlet pipe that comes out of the muffler; no, except for the increased level of fumes in your face. You could have a removable extension pipe made up to remedy that. If you are going to cut out part of the body of the muffler that would be bad.

Nope.Would probably be a benefit to it if it keeps you from bending it going in the door of the shed.
