We've been planting beans with old Kinze 8 row 30" planter converted to 16 row no-till bean planter for 5-6 years now. It's been pulled with a 4640, my Oliver 2255 and a Case 2590. All these pulled it with ease. I got rid of the 2590 and bought a 105 hp front wheel assist utility that I can use at our business and for farming. Think it has enough grunt to pull that planter? It has an easily detachable loader and the rear tires are loaded. I've got a set of duals also. What do you guys think? Our ground is flat. Hope it works, that's the plan or fall back to the 2255. Thanks.

It has been our family experince we pulled a 8 row 7000 jd for 25 years with a 3020 diesel in 6 gear about 1500 to 1700 rps with no trouble .I think you could plant 80 acres with 22 gallon of fuel .The next thing we used was a 750 jd drill pulled with a jd 7200 witch is the same size as a 4020 .I always though it seem funny to see a 200 hp tractor pully a 12 row planter .

I don't see why not. I have pulled a 20' Great Plains no-till drill with a Case 1070 which is 108 horse. 10" spacings with 24 row units. I had decent power to spare. Of course I had to have the tires loaded due to the fact the drill uses the tractor weight for some down pressure. And keep in mind that the Case tractors have incrediable torque over most in not all other tractors. I would have ditched the 2255 and kept the 2590. Way way more power and light years ahead cab and controls wise. Of course those ole V-8 Cats are a thing of beauty!

My current horse... Case 2390 and that 20' GP drill.

Have a neighbor that went from 12 to 16 rows about 2 years ago. Said that he needed a lot of front-end weights or the planter would make his big fancy John Deere tractor's front end float in the air. And the GPS stuff doesn't steer with brakes, so he had to do something to hold down the front end.

If it's an 8 row with extra units on it,I don't see any problem with the plan.

Definitely put the duals on.

I would have to try it, might not be able to run quite as fast, but should pull it. Years ago, had a neighbor pulling a 12-30 JD planting corn loaded down with dry fertilizer with a stock 4020. Chris
