andy i have tryed all over for three years already. tryed every body in red power . have the best luck with tom underwood.i got gaskets, cam brgs. and rod brgs and valves from him.no mains around. i got the crank throws turned .020and left the mains alone.i have from .006 to .008 wear on mains . realy would like to get it turned once i find brgs.my last option is i will put it together with the old brgs.and use castrol 20-50 oil with lucas oil add itive.and hope i have half decent oil pres.but i realy dont want to do this.i know it run before but how, why,it had no reason to with poor oils back then , poor maintenance and so on.i bought this wk40 mccormick from original owner.he told me it has not run since 1950. he had it overhauled , the rods were set too tight and the front one came out the oil pan.thats because these 6cyl.fbb engines use shims for adjusting rod and main clearances.they were set too tight and thats what happened.i have found every thing i need so far. the head cost me about 500.00 .any used parts you find are well worn because these 6cyls. were worked to death, just too light and poor engine for a tractor.for those who dont know, ihc put a 6cyl. truck engine in this tractor in the 1930s. they later found out this was a mistake with all the problems they had with it.but anyway the sheet metal and fenders are just perfect and would like to get this project done already.i have the baby brother( w12 )all restored.so if any body has any info. on parts drop me a line. thanks.
