A while back I was telling that my name was on a state website saying that I had unclaimed property. It didn't say how much, but I sent in the forms anyway. I got the check today. $302. BUT,just as I was putting the check in the drawer, somebody ran off the road and went right through my corral fence! SO...I was out in the snow for over an hour cobbling that back together enough to keep'em in tonight when they come up for water. Short celebration!

Speaking of attornies, my sister and I each own an undivided half of the family farm. When my wife and I built our house 8 years ago, I bought my sister out on 10 acres.

Our attorny wrote a deed twice and screwed it up both times. He didn't even have the legal discription right. I finally wrote it myself. They bought it at the court house, so I must have done it right.

BTW, I've since switched attornies.

Got some unclaimed funds from wisconsin out of Illinois- old bank account from bank that was sold, then a merger, then another ownership change and they declared me dead. State took money but the federals said active SS account, so they posted it as unclaimed to old address, internet scavenger offered to get it for 1/3, I check occasionaly anyway and found misspelling, filled out forms, sent old bank form with address shown, referred to last state income tax and got money in 2 months. Couple hundred dollars- paid for set of tires. RN

Had the same thing happen with my dad's estate in Ohio. My brither and I had to re-open the estate, file the proper forms to get the money. The lawyer got about 1/3 of it, but I kind of thought since it was his oversight he should have done it free. No real complaints, wasn't much money. If I hadn't had a very observant nephew, we wouldn't have got anything. Like Dad always said "One lawyer in town will starve, two lawyers both make money".
Sorry about the corral rrlund, had a similar experience with a guy out of gas a few weeks ago. Oh well!!

I saw my dads name on an unclaimed funds list.He passed away several years ago. They told me i had to get a lawyer and go to court to claim the money for his estate. There is a few thousand dollars in the account, but the attorney said it would take all that to pay his fees.

Just ask attorney for some advise. The forms can be copied and you just pay the filing fee at court house are where ever your told. Might be around 100.00 are less. Then you show up for the court date is all. Give your info and walk away with the case. Attorney's always want everyone to thing only they can handle it. ha ha I my self have filed several court motions and won' Lot of times even your libaray has forms you can get.

In my case,of course,I wasn't dealing with an estate, but I just printed the forms of online. Had a copy of my drivers license and SS card made at the bank and had it notorized there,no charge. So it cost me 41 cents to file. Pretty fair profit on one stamp.
