A friend installed heli-coils for the manifold bolts and now water is leaking from the threads. Van you use a stop leak in the JD anti-siphon systems? What would you recommend fixing this? Tks in advance.

lock-tite makes a product called wick and lock. it is a thread sealer-locking compound you put on after the fastener is installed. it will creep in along the threads and seal.

The manifold stud holes in the 2 cyls are blind holes so coolant shouldn't get to the stud. However, if a stud is twisted off and then drilled out the drill bit could have easily gone through the bottom of the hole and into the water jacket.

Gasket sealers do work sometimes; sometimes not. Usually it seals itself up over time, but in the meantime that little drip of anti-freeze is going to be running down the side of the head and streaking the paint. Jim

Its not an anti-siphon system but a thermo-siphon system. Big question is does it leak past the heli-coil or the bolt or both. If its both then you have a problem that will be hard to fix unless you can pull the heli-coil back out. My self I have had good luck using silicone gasket sealer to stop leaks on stud bolts but as I said if its the coil treads that leak then you need to pull them and seal those treads also

Are you using bolts or studs?

I would use studs, and seal them in place with a quality pipe dope. If that doesn't work, I would drain the coolant, thoroughly clean and dry the threads/inserts, and slather a litle epoxy (JB Weld, or your favorite kind) down in the threads, and on the stud threads, and then install the studs.

Does it not have a gasket to stop the water from getting to the bolts
