2000 GMC C/K 2500 crew cab old style auto trans shifts soft in 4th and lockup. Under normal driving from stop it shift at 20,38,52,58-60mph. All shift are good but overdrive and lock up. Lock up feels like it sometimes shifts in then shifts again. Truck has 115K should i put additive in it or is this adjustable or should i flush it or change filter and fluid then put additive or is it to late? Truck has 265-16" tires with 3:73, and i think it lacks on power too!How much fuel pressure should it have? What trans is in this truck?

Sounds like my Pontiac Bonneville SSEI. I took it to the dealer and they checked the computer and it showed a solenoid burnt out in the transmission. There are 5 of them in there. Cost less than $1000 to fix. Mine only had 60,000 on it, but is turbo charged. Acted about the same way as yours only mine don't have the lock-up. The lock-up you are referring to is the button on the shift lever for steep grades to keep from shifting in and out so much, right...deadeye

What you might try is to change the filter in the trans, and in refilling add a can of Trans-X. Trans-X is the only trans additive I've found to really work, but it's primarily for transmissions where age has caused seals to harden and seep. It softens the seals so they seal again, both internally and externally.

However, I suspect plain old wear and tear is catching up, and pulling those 265 tires in OD isn't helping. In fact, that might be the cause.

On my Chevy 4X4 heavy half, LT245x75x16 tires are standard and the book says to lock it out of OD when hauling anything or pulling a trailer.

C means its a 2 wheel drive, K = 4 wd. Gas or diesel? 6.0 engine is not an extremely powerful engine unless no load.

It is a 4wd and its the old body style because of the crew cab and it has the 350. Do you think by changing filter and fluid it will make it worse? Do you think flushing is better for this problem? I have had good luck with lucas transmission additive also. I do not pull in od unless its a 4x8 trailer empty on highway. At 60mph the tach is at 1800rpm.
