There is in Brownstown, Mich. a car auction, where I am told if you buy a vehicle; you obligate yourself to have the vehicle delivered to your home at undisclosed amount of charges. You cannot any way dri ve this vehicle after purchase off auction property. Was told some buyers walk off and lose deposit/whatever since towing is totally unreasonable. Can this be true? I could see this if you had no insurance, but I have been able to get insurance with one phone call. What do you think? Could this ever apply to tractors, implements?

RayP, these cars are not necessarily salvage. I know that. Lot of them have check engine lights on and unknown mileage. Some day I'll get brave and bid on one. Ran a truck through but price bid was too low. Got 2500 more a month later privately.

Would have to see the language of what the buyers signed when they got their auction number. You're only obligated to what you sign up for.

Are these cars by chance salvage vehicles? They cannot be titled for driving as is.

In Michigan if you buy a titled vehicle, and the previous owner signs off on the back of title, properly, you are allowed to drive the car from point of purchase with title in hand, to your home without license plate. Of course, you have to do a title transfer and get proper plate before driving it elsewhere. That would include properly insurance for the vehicle, as you can't get license plate without.

If he hadn't said auction,I'd think it was that yahoo that advertises on television. You know the one, says he'll bring two or three cars to you,no matter where you live. You pick the one you want and he finances it.
