Where is the serial tag on a Ford 800 or 850. and how can you tell the difference in the tractors. the one im thinking of buying says 800 on the grill but the guy selling it says its a 850.

800 is the series but the model can be any number of others. AS in 840, 850, 860, 870 and 880. Heres the easy way to find out. Lat you left hand on the starter and your right hand on the clutch pedal. Right in front or your eyes will be a flat spot on the bell houseing. You should see some numbers there that will look sort of like this if its as you say.

The top number is the model and the lower the serial number
