Anyone out there have a sensible source for AGCO/Massey parts?
We need one of the 10t beveled pinions, held on with a roll pin, that turn the bill hook shaft on the knotters for a 124 Massey baler.
Massey #918 020 M1 is still in the price sheet, and everybody says they can get it..... but for over 213 bucks!

Any body know of any good used/salvage sources for this kind of baler part?

Thanx; Tom S. in Tn.

Tom,had to rebuild my baler knotters [JD] a couple years back $1200.00 in parts. Thought that was cheap after pricing another baler. By the way grass hay, just run of the mill type $6.00 per bale [50-60 lb] Alfalfa [100 lb] $16.00 Alf/grass [100 lb] $18.00 and I'm not greedy

Tom, not being critical just your call on your baler look around and find one that someone has in there back 40 offer them a fair price then you have a lot of spare parts. BTW I will look and see if I have that gear as I scrapped one of those balers last fall and think I saved all of the knotter parts. May take a few days to find

Ok, I won"t call you greedy, but you must be in love with that baler to spend that kind of money on the knotters. A working 124 Massey is only worth around that, and $8.00 alfalfa won"t maintain these kind of expenses, I don"t care what you say.
This is why I deplore writing here. I need help locating parts...not a load of critical horse crap.

Hi Tom,everything is super expensive today to say the least. If you can find one at a salvage yard, they will want about half that for sure.Don't be too suprised if you have to buy the new one in the end to get your baler up and running again. If you can put it on yourself, alittle over 200 to fix your baler isn't really money wasted if it is otherwise a good baler.pd.

" alittle over 200 to fix your baler isn"t really money wasted if it is otherwise a good baler.pd. "

Sounds like advice I heard from a real estate agent last year, trying to justify why inflation was good. I think I saw a Domino"s light on top of his truck last week.
There is no way to justify over $200 for a $2 part. AGCO will learn this just like the real estate market did.

Just curious; What part of the country are you from, and just how much does a bale of grass hay sell for there?
