a former employee stopped by work to visit, and happened to mention he had a lawnmower battery (U1L or similar) under the hood of his Neon. he always was a goofball with his Neons; zip-tying the springs to lower it for example.

another coworker got to hear him start it and said it sounded like an old car/tractor. this cold snap in MN made me wonder if he ever got a real battery under his hood? I think for old tractors, at least a group 26 would be best for successful starts--you get the 12v, more than 300 CCA, and decent reserve capacity on those stubborn days. of course you lose that old time-y sound, but that sound is part of the 6v experience everyone is getting away from.

i just thought it was hilarious that a car was running on a small battery and that some of you with little Bs of any color might wanna try it to sound authentic at the shows :)

Yea but a neon only has a lawnmower engine in it.
