Anyone ever scrap a transformer? I have the opportunity to get one, it is a newer one with non-pcb fluid. The tag says the coil and windings weigh 1600 lbs. Total wieght is about 4000 lbs. Did I find a gold mine, or something that I will have to pay to get rid of?

Will the oil burn in your diesel tractor?

Is it nonfunctional? Is it stolen? It might be worth more as a transformer than scrap.

Its not stolen, its being replaced. It works, but the electrician who removed it says it is out of date.

Sorry it is worthless, but seeing I am a nice guy, I will dispose of it for ya no charge. :)

Seriously, strip it down yourself and call around for best price. You will be surprised at the differences in pricing from one yard to the next. And watch out for any BS about "grade".
