Am trying to replace a rear outer wheel bearing. This one has the "limited slip" rear. I cannot figure out how to get the small shafts with the small springs and parts out of the way of removing the first two spyder gears. Book is no help at all, their photo,s don't match the real parts. HELP!!!!!

Ok have the 5/16 blot head pin out. then the large pin for the first two spyder gears. THERE ARE TWO SMALL SHAFTS WITH SMALL MOVING PARTS IN THE WAY OF ROllING THE FIRST TWO GEARS OUT OF THE WAY. I have had a few normal carriers apart without this style of lockup inbetween the axles. there is only feeler gauge gap between the axle ends and the lockup parts. I an kind of stuck!

Yep, what the other guys say.

I used to overhaul those 1/2 ton rear-ends without even takin' a lugnut off.

Just pull the keepers and then yank the tires/wheels/drums/axles out the sides and let 'em hang. :>)

triplerange is correct,Only remove the 5/16 hex head pin and slide the spider gear pin out. Then push the axle inward enough to expose the c-clip retainer.Push it off with a screwdriver and the axle will then pull out.Do not rotate the axle any more than nessesary to perform the work.Do not remove any other parts inside the differential housing. The axle will not push inward until you remove the long pin."DO NOT REMOVE ANY SPRINGS OR GEARS".

You shouldn't have to take the limited slip or the spider gears apart. Push the axle in as far as it will go and punch the c-clip out of the slot in the axle behind the spider gear. Axle should pull right out.
