Anybody, You know we have horse stables that rent space to horse lovers, has anyone heard of a tractor stable. Here in Lake Co. Ill. we are having a very difficult time coming up with facilities for the pursuit of the tractor hobby. Corperate, public, and private seem disabled. Maybe we need to make a private enterprise out of it? Mike

I worked Lake Co. in the early seventies and at that time it was full of new high dollar homes and they all worked down town via the train. As for the storage renters who default on the rent many people are make a great flea market living cash only from buying the contents. The one I have spoke to who always has tools said that you can only look in from the door way and can not go through the stuff before you bid. 400 dollars sales for him on a sunday morning is not a good day.

A big thing in central MN is storage- unheated garages, 30-40 units or more in one complex. Most all little towns have them. Rent is typically $30-50 per month per unit. Yuppies have too much stuff- need to store it. Better than having a rental house, fewer rental headaches. No electricity beyond the security light. If renters leave, wait the minimum time, auction off what they leave. Good retirement program for some of my neighbors.

My uncle knows a guy who makes a fortune off of it. Not actually tractor storage, but same idea. This person does RV storage. He got some land, then put in individual climate controlled steel buildings for each individual motorhome... the great big ones. If I recall correctly, 100 some odd buildings at $200 a month (I don't remember on utilities).

But then again, that could go down the drain pretty quickly too. 100 empty buildings don't make you any money.
