On the Framall M that I recently bought, non-running, there was a little antifreeze in the oil filter and about 1/2 a quart in the pan when I drained it just two nights ago.

I am just wanting to know if there is any common problem with cracked heads or something similar that I should look for with this engine. Anything to start looking for? One guy suggested retorquing the head, which do to 10 degree temps, hasn't happened yet.

I'm just trying to put together a game plan on how I should go about fixing this problem.

Thanks, from 10 degree central Indiana(warmer tomorrow)

Joey

I would think either a leaking o-ring around a sleeve or possibly a leaking head gasket. If it does'nt miss or run hot you can probaly eliminate the head or the gasket. To check the sleeves, pull the oil pan and install a pressure tester in place of the radiator cap.Pump up about 12 to 15 lbs of pressure and look up around the sleeves from the bottom. If one is leaking you can see it.

hey old dont get me wrong here but M's have what we call dry sleeves so theres no O ring that i know of ? if water is coming from under sleev its a crack in the block as the sleeves just sit in a bored out hole like a car eng. just a thin sleeve is all u get
