wgfaradio.com has many pic's of Watseka and area flood shots. The Monticello,IN damn is scary which should be lake Schafer. Watseka is at the junction of 1 and 24 on the East side of IL. Iroquois River is on the north edge of Watseka which drains a large part of NW Indiana. Sugar creek which is about the same size as the Iroquois goes around the western side of Wateska and joins the Iroquois on the NW corner of town. This all flows to the Kankakee River East of Kankakee, IL. Know of several home with water in them and many basements have various depths of water. I had lived in Watseka for several years and the last place I was in is under water.

I maintain some phone systems located in the basements of business" there. Haven"t been called yet, but am sure sooner or later the water"s going to go down and stuff will need to be replaced.

I call it train town. If you don"t get stopped heading east into town by one, you sure will headed west out of town. Hasn"t failed me yet.

Ever see the old fella that drives around town on the garden tractor? I haven"t seen him in a year, and forget what it was that he used to ride, but the last time I saw him, believe it was a new deere. Someone told me that when time came, he went shopping for a new garden tractor to drive, didn"t get the best local deal, and I"m not sure if it was Hogan Walker, but gave him one to embarrass the local.

Bought a Massey Harris 44 in Watseka a couple years ago. A mile or two north and a couple or three miles east. Retired farmer who bought it new, sold it to his brother who used it till he retired, then gave it to his grandson. Didn't want it so the dad sold it to me.Pretty common name, but I forgot it. I have it written down somewhere. Good old 44.

You're from that area? I used to do the phones over at Fox and DOC, and plenty in Kankakee. I can't remember the consignment dealer east of Reddick on the north side of 17. They oughta have one coming up shortly. Does like 4 a year? Winrich and Sons sound right? I can't remember.

We travel through Dwight a few times a year on IL 17 going to IN to visit family. Sure looks like some wonderful farm land in the area. I"ve been curious in that some of the farm places (building sites) in IL and IN look unoccupied and that makes me think that the farmers live in a nearby town and commute to do their farm work.
