Any input out there on a Long 280? I found one with 572 hrs. and the asking price is 6995.00.
I know nothing about these tractors, however I did read that the company had money problems, but was back in business. The machine seems in good shape and I think the engine was Korean. There is a dealer within 15 miles that will work on them, but I wonder about parts. Any replys would be appreciated, thanks.

My local tractor dealer takes care of mine at this time. I don't seem to be having no trouble with them getting parts for the tractor. I like my tractor and no of a few others that have them and like them to.
Here is a picture of mine. It is a 610 Long built in 1984. Diesel and 4x4 at 64 hrs power. Manuels can be gotten for them and service manuels also.

Long Manufacturing built its first tractor in 1948. The company, however, soon stopped building their own and began importing tractors from Uzina Tractorul Brasov (UTB) and some Landinis. Long filed for bankruptcy in 1985, but returned by 1987 after a reorganization. In 1998, Long Agribusiness was purchased by the Escort Group of India. The Long name was dropped in favor of the Farmtrac brand. The Tractorul Brasov Factory (UTB) in Romania dates back to an aircraft manufacturing facility. After World War II, the factory was converted to tractor production. UTB tractors and engines were based heavily on licensed FIAT designs. Universal tractors were exported. In the United States, they were imported by Long and rebranded.

This is nice forum. No need to register. I am looking for valve clearences for Long 610. Don't really want to buy a manual at this time. I have a huge amount of back pressure coming thorugh the intake so much it is blowing the bottom of the air cleaner housing off.. I found a small snap ring under the valve cover have no idea where it came from. I am not a restorer. Just looking for help..

I found that I had to get an operators manuel. This helped me a lot on knowing the tractor better and what it has. ... Feel free to contact me in regular mail if you like. ... On subject line put in Long Tractor .. and I will know to open it and read it. lawrence9309@sbcglobal.net
....I found my manuel for it off the internet. The site here did not have one. So you can get an operators manual and a service manual. Have a good day.
