I live 60 miles from there and know several farmers in the area. What do you need, I can probably head you the right direction.

Just curious about the area of embarass township as my ancestors farmed there 1840 to 1875 when they moved on to missouri.

A river runs through it. The Embarass River

This is odd, interesting to me. The township and the river are spelled the same, Embarrass, Embarass, Embarras, etc. However, the locals pronounce the township the way it sounds, em bar' as, but the river is ambraw. I don't know if it's Indian, 'cuse me, Native American, or French pronunciation.

Good one msb! LOL That area has it all. Really good farm ground, really bad farm ground, and yes a river runs through it, not sure that the river isn't running over it this week.

I worked for a fertilizer company there in 1980 and in the 90's. I still have acquaintances there and see them occasionally at ag evernts around the area.

Don't farm there but have a tower site on Forsythe Family Farms in SW corner of the county. Do some work with GSI at Paris.

How did the song go?

"Almost heaven, West Central Indiana/East Central Illinois."

Hahahaha, no, but I'll take the greater Terre Haute metropolitan area anyday.
