What i understand is the firing order is 1-2-3 from the radiator back. What is the order on the distributor cap? What position is #1 on the cap? Kinda lost here.

You better hang on to that tractor, 'cause you have the only 3-cylinder gas MF35 in existance. They were 4-bangers. Possibly a 3-cylinder Perkins gasser out of a later model 135? Or else you have 4 cylinder gas. Diesels were 3 cylinder

If you took all 3 plugs out and turn the engine over until you feel air being pushed out of number 1 (by sticking your finger in the plug hole or a compression gauge). Whenever the air stops moving take a look at the rotor button, it should be close to the #1 position on the cap. Alternatively if you know which way it rotates put the wires on the cap, try it and if it runs you've got it, if not slide them all round one until it works. tractorsam
