Who makes Kenmore Microwave/Stove Hood vent combo's? I know Whirlpool make their Wash machines and Dryers. Our Kenmore combo went bad after 2 years and sent it to the Sears service center. Well after having it for 10 months we get the call saying we can't fix it. We want a new combo but want nothing to do with Kenmore ever again.

Need your input on what is working for you.

Merle

We have a GE Spacemaker Microwave 5 yr., A new Fridgidaire Gas/Electric Stove 1 yr,It is a slide in, Maytag side by side Refrigerator 4 yr,Maytag Dish Washer 3yr,Maytag Stacked Washer/Dryer 6 yr. They all have been trouble free so far.In our 47 Yrs of House Keeping I can't remember any failures of Appliances except for those small Chinese /Japanese made items such as Irons,Toasters, Coffee Makers etc. We used to buy Amana Products but I think they went by the wayside,or did they? We had aan IHC Top load Freezer from 1960-1999 and left it when we moved and it is still being used by the people who bought our ILL house. That makes it 48 years of service without a problem.Sure miss IHC.JC

The first three digits of the model number will tell you who the actual manufacturer is. I don't have the link handy, but if you search the web there are several places that list a cross reference for Sears OEM.

Goldstar is typically a VERY good brand, probably exceeding most "so-called' US brands in quality.

Here is a scary thought. We just replaced our ancient Kenmore washer with a Maytag. According to the sales guy they are made on the exact same production line. After 2 months the thing went bad. Seems they forgot to bolt the motor in (Ya think that would have been obvious). Finally got a replacement (kenmore) and have loved it since. As much as you may not like the kenmore, we have nearly all kenmore appliances and they have lasted forever (avg age of them is 13 years). You may have just gotten a lemon unit. It happens in production (a lot more often than we want to think).

Everything in our house is Kenmore except for the Washer and Dryer. However a Kenmore with a 721. model code will not be filling the area above our Kenmore stove again.
