Keeping posts for getting deleted ??

I've had many occasions when I took the time to give detailed responses to questions - only to have them deleted with no warning - all text gone forever. I can't seem to find much rhyme-or-reason to it. I asked several times via email to forum administration, and never got an answer. Anybody know? Is there a list of banned words, technical terms, peoples names, certain website titles, etc.? I was told by a few people that their personal names can't be used here - and I tried it - and it's true - so it seems a few have been "blacklisted" to some degree.

I'm not talking about cursing, or arguing - just certain URLs, names of certain websites (but not all) - even the technical names for a few tractor parts. A while back, and I'd copied a pasted part of a service manual and it kept getting deleted. Found out it was an alternative word for a "fuel shutoff" that was disallowed. (I can't write it or I'll get deleted again).

So, how does a person know when something is going to be blasted - with no warning - by the cyber word-police?

I've had some delete's too. Think your first paragraph DID give some of reasons for omitting. YT has stores, books, and info to sell, they like to push theirs, not others. That keeps the forum going, they do cost money. They especially don't like that Auction site that is well used. Far as getting response from personel, I also never got a return on questions. It's really hard to even find the place to request/send a letter on site. Just be a good boy, and be careful what you send.

Would the same deleting policy prevent a post? I have presed "Preview Your Reply" a number of times only to be returned to the forum with no record of the post. I always assumed it was a problem with the board.

Yeah, as far as selling parts go, I can see that. But often someone is looking for a part that is not sold here. This just happened a few minutes ago when I tried to tell a guy where he could find the Deere part he needed that is not offered for sale here. My post got deleted five times and I finally gave up.

The deleting of posts is one thing - but doing it with no warning - and not giving any chance to save text - is just plain rude. And yeah, I realize it's a computer doing it - but computers don't think on their own. They respond to human programming. The way I see it, a computer should not be programmed to be any ruder then a person wants to be face-to-face.

There are other types of forum software that will warn you about a word it has trouble with - before deleting all text.

Hmmm, I'd better shut up or I'll get deleted.

If you think THIS site is tough, try Harry Matthew's "Smokstak".

I used to post there, and gave up 'cause of how rectally impaired the owner is.

He would delete just about ANY post with a link to other sites, especially this one.

Several times I saw someone post there about with a specific question that would go DAYS with no answer, and I'd post a link to a site such as this one, when I knew thw guy could get and answer, and my post would get deleted, sometimes within a couple of minutes.

The posts in question were respectful, meant to be helpful to guys who were waiting for help, and there was nothing COMMERCIAL about them.

After a couple of times of that nonsense, and even getting emails from him that links to other boards were not permitted, I finally got the picture I was not wanted there, and quit posting.

WHAT is wrong with posting a helpful, non-commercial link, I wonder???

His site is s GREAT resource, but WHY he choses to act like that, I can't understand, but we have to realize this BOARD is Kim's, and Harry's BOARD is Harry's, and they are free to run them as they see fit!

It still "bugs" me, though to see guys post links to Harry's on HERE, when HE won't allow the favor to be returned!

I do know that pretty much any website that competes, for lack of a better word, with the business side of YT is forbidden.
