Had some one say they wanted a tractor I have for sale. Well he said he would be here on friday but because of weather he didn't make it and called to let me know he would not be here. Then he said he would call me back Saturday or Sunday to let me know if he could get here on Monday. Well I haven't heard back from him and I have even left a message on his machine twice now but he hasn't called me back. Don't people respect others any more. Don't people know its hard to plan your days if you don't know if or when they are going to show up?? Just one of those things that makes me mad. Thanks for reading this and please be nice and make your word your bond

His wife probably heard your message left on the phone and that was the end of the deal. I have some rental houses and you get that sort of thing on a regular basis. They will tell me they will meet me there the next day to ;ook at it. Some will not show up. Now I tell them to call me the next day to set the time.

Sounds like he just changed his mind and for some odd reason he isn't willing to just tell you. People are like that. Forget him and move on if you got another buyer.

Just Agree on a time that works for both people. Then when you have to go to your appoitment and they didn't show, just go. If they are serious they will be on time!

Old...? Let me play the devil's advocate? What if the poor fella's car broke down, he was outside working on it in an area that hasn't got a cell tower for service, and as he bent over under the hood, an avalanche rolled down the mountain, and he's kind of smashed under the hood thinking, "Old knew I was comin', and I sure wouldn't mind if since he knew I was comin', he'd come take a look see to see why I aint comin'". Now, doesn't that put a whole different light on all of those times you drove by that big pile of snow off to the side of the road with them boots sticking out of it, and what sounds like someone yelling "Helmmmmm mm!!! Helmmmmm mmmmm e Olmmmm".

Yep, a phone call would've been nice. I agree.

I would agree with you but. I have called his cell phone 2 or 3 times and I get no answer from him or his wife. Way back when if you said you would be there you would be or at least have enough respect for the other guy to call and say sorry I had this or that come up. 99% of the time if I say I'm going to be there at X time I'm there 10 minutes early or maybe a few minutes late but I don't just leave the person hanging.

Oh Old, I agree with you. I was just having some fun with you and thats why I put "impossible if" after "impossible if" in there. I agree fully. So long as the fella is up to it, can walk and talk, is no reason he doesn't or didn't call or talk to you. You won't get an arguement out of me.

Happy New Year to you and yours, and may they always get better.

Know what you mean! Just a few days ago. A family was suppose to come by and visit for the day. Said they would be over between 3 and 4 pm. My wife fixed up a nice dinner for them. ...A no show and no call even.....Waited till 5:30 pm for them and gave up. Besides this old man got hungry smelling the food. LOL My wife was ticked and so I had to hear how much work she went to etc. Did see them the next day and husband blamed his wife and she blamed him.... "I gave them a piece of my mind to". Will not happen again wife said!!! She's is still ticked and I don't bring it up for nothing. lol

I usually get the ones that can only come on a certain day of the week, usually when i have a doctors appointment or want to attend a local farm auction.I change things around to be there
at 9am when they say they will be at my place. At
10:00 am they call and say they will be there at noon.At noon they call saying they got a late start and they will be there at 2:00pm. At 5:00pm
they show up,say they will have think about it,they didn't realize the tractor i had for sale was THAT LARGE.

I dunno, there is no doubt about "Show them better than you can tell them" for most things in life, but when you are dealing with selling something and people, there is going to be those that are not so easy to deal with.

I can understand your eagerness to make a sale, providing some always welcome and needed funds, but still, people will not show, it's just the way it is sometimes, I'd be up front about agreeing to a date and time, something changes, polite to call if it's necessary to change that, it's your job to let the potential buyer know what works what does not, let them know if you will be busy and that you can't wait around, an agreeable time to meet is most appreciated. I've learned that being up front with people right from the start is the best policy, it's very possible something came up, hard to jump on someone for that, I think it's different when someone re-negs (sp?)on a deal or similar, best to avoid problem people at the first hint, you'll sell whatever it is that's for sale, I had a person drive 50-60 miles to purchase a 5th wheel I had for sale, no questions asked on the price, cash in hand, loaded it onto his truck, informed him what I knew about the product I sold him etc. I removed 3 vehicle lifts from a jobsite last year, got them for the price of removing them, put 2 for sale, kept one for my future shop. I had them priced to sell, listed them for $1400 each, they were 2 post, 10 years old, 6000 lb capacity, figured I'd get $900 each minimum, better one of the 2 I got full price for, the other I sold to a wheel chair bound person and his employees/helper for $900, but I had all kind of people, one called, said he'd take both, over the phone, he had an auto garage and needed them, never showed up, another showed up and wanted all 3 for $900, I stuck to my guns and just waited them out, sometimes you just have to take people with a grain of salt, if you have something that is in decent shape and has a demand or use, it will sell, sooner or later. I anxiously wanted these things sold too, had to keep my tractor on that job to load them out etc., winter time, needed it at home for clearing snow, so it can be a little frustrating when someone is a pain in the arse, but the 2 actual buyers who took them, very nice honest people, same with the guy who took the 5th wheel, all depends on who youre dealing with, skip the jerks whenever possible and don't even let them rattle your cage, sounds like he's got you bent off the get go, might be a little premature for that.

Had this happen to me a number of times and it all stems from respect about other's needs and their feelings towards a stranger -- secret is really the Golden Rule " treat others as you would wish to be treated " and form good habits throughout your life when working with people and you will never lose respect for yourself or others and you will in all ways be respected too. Best way I have found to make sure you have a truly interested party is to ask for a sum of money down as a requirement in fairness to others to hold the item(s).... and if you don't get it and instead receive excuses you will have known more likely then not they would have been a "no show" anyways. A truly interested party won't blink an eye if you ask, because they are genuine and respectable. On the other hand, things do happen , but those parties will make every attempt to notify you of their situation(s); and you should respect that -- forms good relationships with strangers and advertises your good will immensily. Thanks for reading. JIM
