I am doing a top end on my WD9 IHC tractor and have found a head without cracks but have been told the valves are no good and they are very costly to replace. I have also been told they are hard to find. Has anyone done this before? Where did you get the parts? Any ideas where to get the parts? Cost? Nice old tractor, hand clutch and power steering which I have been told is rare. How much $$ do I put into this old gal? Help is greatly apprecaiated. Happy New Year, Maestro

I have a Farmall MD that we have just redone and put all new valves in and fix a couple of cracks that it had in the head I put all new valves in it and new guides etc. it cost me about $800.00 for valves and $500.00 for labor and machine work but my machinist said that he could of got the valves for about $500.00 The ones that I brought were Case IH parts they can be expensive and they can cause a lot of headaches but they are a lot of fun when they are done Make sure that you find a machine shop that has experiance in these engines because if they don't they can end up costing you a lot more money than a gas version That is just my 2 cents worth.

Find one with a cracked head and use the valves out of it if they are any good. We have three WD-9's and they would be well worth the investment you put into it.

I have some people you can call, but I don't have the numbers in the house tonight, I'll get them for you in the morning.

As for parts, check with weberstractorworks dot com

As for money - whatever you are comfortable spending without ever getting the money back out of it. Old tractors that require lots of repairs never seem to get the money back out of them.
