Yes, the flywheel can be a problem, be sure the nut stays tight. One of the gears driven by the crankshaft in the gear train driving the fuel pump/valve camshaft, I think it is an idler gear and would need get the book out to verify it exactly, is known to break the single mounting bolt and make a mess. Happened to mine before I bought it, and a friend's is now parked with the same problem. I've also read that the 1st gear reduction gear/bearing arrangement is not overdesigned and it can have problems.

Flywheel, flywheel, and flywheel. I put one used and one new on the one I had. I guess the taper lock flywheel fixes the problem.

Those 24 volt systems (if thats what it has) can be cornfusing for an experienced person let alone one electrically challenged lol. Ive owned 730 elec starter diesels n mine worked buttttt t it required maintenance n 4 good strong 6 volt batterys (or two twelves). Other expensive problems besides the complicated 24 volt electric start can be the flywheel and crank splines.

If she fires right up easy n the battery charges n stays charged n she dont knock or hammer or bang (bearings or rods or flywheel etc problems) or smoke or exhibit a lot of blow by it might actually still be a good tractor (I liked mine) buttttt ttt if not, it can cost a small fortune to repair.

Dont let us scare you however, best wishes n let us know how things turn out

They are notorious for being worn out and costing tons of money to repair. A gas 730 would be so much cheaper and easier to repair.
