David in Wales, I hope you are well. We haven't heard from you for a long time. I use many of your photos for my computer background screen. Wales is such a pretty area. I don't suppose you have any snow there?

David is about 50 miles west of me, so even less likely to get snow than we are! He's on the Atlantic/Irish Sea coast where all our weather comes from, so our winters are typically above freezing & wet. The Gulf Stream keeps the weather very temperate. we have just had a week of frosts with temps down to about -5deg C, but that's usually as cold as it gets in a normal winter. Every 20 years we get a load of snow(1981 was the last real lot) - about 2 feet ( nothing by Canadian/American standards) - which brings everywhere to a halt 'cos we just aren't geared up for it.

If you are missing the pics, here's a couple to tide you over until David's back:

One is my tractor ( an Universal 445DT - Long in USA) with a Vicon Acrobat fitted, down in front of my house.

One is of the estuary a couple of miles downstream from home

One is hunting the cliffs at Gower, just south of the estuary. You should be able to zoom in to see the huntsman & a hound or two.(Note to busybodies: we are hunting rabbits, obviously not foxes, because that is now illegal)

The Fox..Shoot them all then come over to the Dominions for resupply ,would appreciate it. The gentry brought them out for their sporting pleasures.the gentry all died but the foxes multiplied.plus the rabbit, starling, indian miner and so it goes on..
Gad Sir,great shot.
"GAD" being a meaningless exclamatory utterance.

Pycoed,

Thanks for the pictures. I think that everyone on this forum really appreciates the pictures of Wales.

Please allow me to ask a question that is purely a result of my ignorance. I have no ulterior motive in asking. Do you have complete freedom concerning private ownership of property in Wales? Are there any governmental restrictions on buying and selling real estate?

Agin, I'm not trying to make any kind of point here, I'm just asking out of my ignorance. I've visited the UK once and Ireland once, and I kind of got the impression that land ownership and transfers were tightly regulated by the various governments, but I might be completely wrong about that.

Thanks again for the pictures. Wales is truly a beautiful country.

I guess we scared him off. Maybe this site is too colorful for him. We do have a lot of cantankerous old goats here (me included), but I think that is what makes this site the best and most interesting. I've looked at other sites, but this is the best.
