i will 40 in 2 months i try an act my age most of the time but why is it everytime i dont i get caught. was plowing snow this morning here on the farm (in central ia), got done plowing. Our north drive, which we dont use in winter, drifts to bad, i know this. 4 by 4, limited slips front end an rear end, tire chains every tire. you all know what happened next. yes i got buried. had to call my 72 year old father to come out in the snow an ice to pull me out. lets just say he was impressed. like i said stupidity knows no age.

ha ha My story on the pot was true. To this very day I can have problems from that deal. Oh well life goes on. Learned after that to walk real careful up a hill. Carry things on the down side of you and wear good grip boots. ha ha ha

I am setting here laughing my butt off... nice to see so many others with life stories that one can laugh at later.
Now I have not stuck my 4x4 truck or tractor. But one time years ago. My dad was building a house in the country. Out-house in back.. winter time so dad got a 5 gallon bucket in house for mom and sis to use at night. ... Well being the oldest at time of 3. I got stuck taking it to the out-house which was up a hill some. Being not to bright I carried the handle in my right hand. Which was on the upper hill side going up. Shessss I slipped and went down hill and that bucket and all it's stuff came down hill on me.. shessss I was sick and to this very day. I can not walk into a bathroom that has not been flushed or spread with air freshner. lol lol I laugh now... but yuk

Everybody at any age wants to have some fun every now and again . That wasn't stupidity in my eyes . But the down side is you let that little snowdrift beat your truck . That just shouldn't have happened given the setup you described . Don't look at it as being stuck but as being temporarily detained . Being stuck is when the truck is FUBAR . If you don't know what that means I'm sorry , I can't explain it on this forum . When I was around forty I blew up the engine in my '82 Jeep CJ trying to make it through a drift that turned out to be over three hundred feet long and six feet deep at it's worst on the gravel road I live on . I made it into that drift about twenty feet after repeated attempts . But I had a blast ! ...Randy

Well, week or so ago my son got stuck trying to turn his 4x4 end for end in the lane, backed over a ridge where the fenceline used to be and there it sat. I got to get my 4x4 and pull him out.... Couple days ago, I got stuck in the lane trying to ford want turned out to be too deep a snowdrift. 30 Seconds previously I said to my son, "Don't you just love 4 wheel drive?!" Took a tractor and plenty of jerking to get my 4x4 back..... Happens to all of us, age doesn't matter. I'm 61, he's 23 both old enough to know beetter.

A couple years back wanted some nice desert photos of my car... pulled off the road and out into the rhubarb and sunk right down to the frame in the sand. Walked home for some 2x4's, shovel, and a jack. Had got in about 25 yards and used the boards to back out... that sucked.

When I was still up in ND I always managed to bury the four-wheeler, snowmobile, or a pickup in the snow... never did bury a tractor. Tractors got buried in the mud during spring's work - although I have never gotten one sunk down the frame, always takes just one to get 'em out so far.

I was finish clearing my lane this week with my 700 Case and 8 foot snow blade on the rear. Got too close to the drainage ditch and the rear wheel of the tractor slid down next to the culvert. Too far in to go back or forward. Not a soul around to help get it out. Went to the barn and got the Case 320 dozer and chain and pulled it back up to high ground. Great to have that little machine handy. Don't think any of my neighbors saw my situation... Gene

I feel your pain I pulled a stunt like that one time a few years ago, had the loader, grader, dumptruck and tractor all stuck in one mud hole. My 77 father in all his wisdom walked up and stated " Looks like you got yourself in a pickle here" then smiled and calmly drove away laughing. Took me all weekend to get em all free. Still stings when I remember him driving away with that big cheese eatin grin on his face.

HEY JOHNDEEREGENE
Do you know the difference betwwen a 2 wheel drive and a 4 whell drive? I'll tell you...
A 4 wheel drive gets you further into the woods/snow bank, before you get stuck!!!!!
Merry Christmas
Guido.

I always try to get stuck in 2 wheel drive that way you have four wheel to rely on. If you get stuck in four wheel drive then you are screwed.

I've got better than a dozen years on you and I did something stupid this morning too. I've got a pen of cattle without a heated waterer. It was 38 degrees and the tank was empty,so I hooked a stock tank float to it. Left it and went to town for breakfast. I stayed too long and the temp dropped to fast. They quit drinking and the float froze, then the pipe. Had to load the torch in the loader bucket and use up the last of the oxygen to thaw it. I could just see that fat guy off Saturday Nite Live saying STUPID STUPID STUPID!!

I got stuck with my 4WD loader tractor at the bottom of the driveway two winters back. Now NOBODY with working loader should be stuck on flat ground but I was panicked because I was blocking the road. Neighbor who doesn't especially like me much pulled up and watched me rock it back and forth a few times, rolled down his window and very sarcastically suggested I roll the bucket under, put it on the ground, and push myself out. Was out in 20 seconds and he headed up the road laughing and shaking his head.
Still burns a little when I think about it. (:^D

At the age of 73, I've always said you can't do anything about growing old, but nothing says you have to grow up.
