I can't speak for all of them, but I know there are some that won't burn both. I'm pretty close to some of the guys at the lumber yard. They said a guy came in and bought a corn stove, came back mad as a wet hen that it wouldn't burn pellets. Even said he was going to sue. I never heard if Jim gave him his money back or not. One aside though, years ago the neighbors burned ear corn right out of the crib in a regular wood stove. Got a good bed of coals over nite with wood, then burned corn all day. They said you didn't want to throw in more than 5 ears at a time.

I got my stove at orcheilin 2 years ago, I have a small 1400 square foot home. I burn corn straight from the combine I will use about 100 bu. a year. I light it with wood pellets in the fire box with a fire starting gel. No smoke at all. Corn is augered from a storage bin that holds about a half bushel of shelled corn. My stove has a computer in it that gives it the correct amount of air for the auger speed, the auger speed is how you regulate the heat, more corn, more heat. My settings on the heat are 1 to 7 1 being the lowest. It also has a blower that blows heat in the room, it to is 1 to 7. I have not had to increase the heat off of 1 this year so far, it was 11 degrees hear this morning and the house is comfortable, oh and the blower is on 5. Although I raise my own corn, I figured the cost last week if I were paying $4 a bu. for corn at $2.60 a day. To me thats cheap heat. I wish I had another stove for my shop.. hope this explains it to you.

I have a covered 200 bu. gravity wagon in back of the house right at the walk-out basement door.Carry it in to basement in 5 gal buckets.Works slick.

American harvest corn/pellet.Burns either one without mods.Has stir-type pot.$1850

Corn the first year was 14%.Had a terrible time with clinkers.2nd year tried 12.5%,worked alot better. This year,11% and that's the ticket.NO CLINKERS!

I made a fire pot lid to minimize fly-ash and run it for 3+ weeks constantly.Only have to add corn and empty ash traps. Good unit.

As far as dangers,in my opinion,no different than a wood stove. In fact,my insurance co. classifies it as such.~brad

I'm running an outdoor corn fired boiler, i heats my 3500 sq ft. house, all our domestic hot water (5 kids) and keeps my drafty 20 x 30 shop warm. I've been burning between 2-3 bu a day here in northern Ohio. To light it I just use some OSB plywood cu into 1 " squares, light with popane torch and presto a good fire hot enough to light the corn in about 3-4 minutes

This is my 4th winter burning corn. I go through a gravity box, about 4.5 tons. It heats my 2 bedroom pretty good, though the oil furnace kicks in when below 0F. One bad thing is since the furnace is quiet, the basement gets cold and my floors (no carpeting) lets cold into the house. My stove (St. Croix) can burn pellets but you have to do something to the fire pot. I'm not sure what.

You have to have corn that is screened and dryed, less then 10% moisture content. I mostly burn pellets. Pellets cost $200/ton and corn is $160/ton. Pellets burn super clean compared to corn. I could heat my house all winter on 5 tons of pellets. The type of stove that burns pellets is a self feeding auger with a 50lb hopper. My stove is an american harvest. cost $2000.

My pellet stove has auto feed and auto light and a thermostat control just like any modern stove does.
It is also made to burn Corn but it recommends that you mix it half and half with pellets for cleaner burning.
Pellets out here where they are made run from about $170 to $220 a ton depending on when you buy them and what kind. I buy the top of the line Golden Blaze they burn cleaner and warmer so cost less in the long run.

Don't really know about corn I use around 2.5 tons of pellets each year its not real cold here but does get below freezing quite often in the winter and lots of times in the teens for a week or so. December and January are the worst I burn around 1 40 lb bag a day then.

It takes about 5 tons of corn to heat all winter, with my stove set on low it burns about 50lbs a day on high it is about 100 lbs/day. Also your house size plays a part too, my home is 2300/sqft.

Have not had any experience with burning corn. Google might be of some help to you. In the mid-west country, corn shelled, which is what you would use was about half the price two plus years ago, that it is now. So, the economics have changed a bunch.

Some of the popular corn stoves use a short section of poultry feedline auger to auger clean, dry corn into the firepot.

I believe all corn stoves can use pellets, but not all pellet stoves can use corn.

Some are designed to handle wheat, rye, cherry pits, and other grains as well as pellets.

The computer chip & sensors and the ash handling systems are different from different companies, and determine how good they can adapt to different fuels.

My buddy has one in which he's burned corn OR pellets. It has screwed up a couple of times, and smoked up the house. He's not allow to light it anymore (he always used a propane torch, don't know if that's "kosher" or not), and his wife says it "has to go"!
