The wife isn't going to divorce me or anything, but yesterday I came home from a sale with a 98 Dodge Cummins 1 ton 2WD five speed stick dually long frame with 210000 miles and a 12 foot flatbed. On the back is a 500 gal diesel tank with a 15 GPM pump and a newer 30 CFM gas powered compressor plus three tool boxes. All for $7300. The custom cutter I work for and farm with sold out his harvesting business yesterday, so I have worked with, and on, this old truck for a few years. I put a new tranny in it two years ago and a new HD button clutch and U joints in last spring for them. It does have all the bells and everything works. I drove it home for them when they bought it used in North dakota and I have kinda wished I owned it ever since.

Now I do own it, but I'm asking myself "why'd I buy this thing"? I need it about as bad as I need a broken ankle. Love can get us in trouble, and it doesn't have to have anyhing to do with the other gender. Jim

I sure can't help you. I just bought neighbors 94 Roadmaster with LT1 engine for $500. This makes vehicle#6. I had to buy it because nobody else appreciated it enough except me. Blue book is about 2500, what would you do. I stalled for 2 weeks, then POW it sitting in my drive.

I never bought into the "need it" philosophy in order to buy something-"want it" is good enough for me. Now, what do I do with that GMC box truck and 2 roadgraders I bought this fall?

Tell me about it. I seldom buy anything that I don't wonder that myself. Funny though, I never wonder when I sell stuff.

Is that 500 gal diesel tank full ? That would be reason enough to buy it right there.

I can certainly see why you have buyers remorse. I wouldn't have bought it since it doesn't have a Miller Bobcat welder, an Acetylene outfit, and a set of mechanics tools to go along with the fuel tank and air compressor. (Just kidding)

I think it is referred to as "Post purchase cognizant dissidence"

Keep it for a while then if not used sell it.

All the wheat farmers in easten Washington have a rig like that- usually also a welder, water tank with pump, and generator. My friend and his dad call theirs the "trap wagon". Is that a term anyone has heard, or just a nickname they have in their family?

Here in Calif. when the beans were harvested, there was a lot of equipment moved from place to place. Amonmt the wagons that followded was a wagen they called the trap wagen. The wagen had just a lot of stuff like fuel, parts, water. Stan

Sounds like my brother sitting in a recently purchased used van one time. He just sat there looking around the inside of it and said "there's gotta be a use for this thing".
