Since MN finally got some snow this year, I may have to break out my sled--a 74 Moto-ski Futura. Anyone else remember/use these things? Seems like theres a few on ebay lately!!

Had two of em. A 1972 Capri 292 & a 1976 Nuvik 300. Bombardier acquired the Moto-Ski division of Griffen Industries in 1971, the same year that snowmobile registrations topped one million in North America.

I don't think originally they were the same as Ski Doo. I think they were separate, then were bought or merged with Ski Doo. Anyone know for sure?

They were made by Bombardier, the same as Ski-Doo's. Most models had a Ski-Doo equivelent. I'm not sure why they stopped making them. Maybe easier just having one brand? Dave

they were built by Industries Bouchard of Quebec. they were bought out by Bombardier probably around 1980.

They might have been a subsidary of Bombardier or under contract with them. Any Moto-Ski I've seen says Bombardier on the tag. Dave

I just looked on the web. Moto-ski was a seperate company originally and used different engines. Bombardier bought Moto-Ski in 1968 or 1969. They probably kept the name as part of the deal or as a good will gesture. Dave

I still have my '71 "Zephyr" long track. I used it a couple of years ago to skid firewood when I got a little low toward spring. My wife's Ski-Doo
Olympique 300 sits in the barn as well and is in pretty nice shape yet altho I haven't started it in 4 or more years. Paid $610 for it brand new and got a yellow "Ski-Doo helmet with it. I was in my 40s when I bought those sleds. By today's standards snowmobiles were pretty crude back then. It was a real workout to ride one of them 30 or 40 miles and in the mountainous terrain of my part of N Y state you rarely had an opportunity to sit down on the seat. I had a lot of fun back then but I don't think I could do it all over again today with the sleds of that era. LOL

Had one for a while... currently we have in running condition a 1970 Arctic Cat Cheetah 340, 1972 Polaris Charger 400, 1973 Arctic Cat Panther 340, 1993 Arctic Cat Cougar 440 liquid, 1996 Arctic Cat Panther 440.

Wish I was back in ND when it snows... I miss my sleds.

Might have to try selling a couple off for a jetski that I can use on the river down here... hmmm. third party image

Neighbors had a big old boat of a late 60s Moto Ski. Rode it right in to the ground. Another neighbor right across the field sold Chaparral,so that's what most of us rode, but after their old MS gave out, they went 20 miles to buy 2 more Moto Skis. A 400 and a 440 if memory serves me right.

Not a Motoski, but I still run my 78 Skidoo Olympiques. I think they were a twin of the Motoski Nuvik? Can't remember. Have a website about 'em.

www.angelfire.com/extreme4/skidoolympique

Just a site that kinda followed my first two years of ownership and learning to ride.

Kids still love it. They have their own gear.

I've got a 1980 Mirage II in the garage. Same as a Ski-doo Citation 4500. Nice machine in its day.

We had one when I was a kid. 1970 MS-18. Long/wide track with a 493 Hirth Twin. With all that track on the ground, got through the snow pretty good.

Oh Yes! I had 1972 Capri 400. It was a good sled. Got the whole package. Two piece suit. Orange jacket and black bibs with the orange stripe and MOTOSKI down the leg. Ran the heck out of it for a couple/three seasons when I was a young teen. Bro-in-law bought a Mercury Sno-Twister and I had to upgrade after that! Went with a Yamaha 440GPX in 1976. Some machines! Rode a new Polaris last winter . Had not ridden in many years. Light years ahead of that old Moto Ski! And way ahead of the others in handling. I do think they would have stayed with the Polaris on speed though! Gave my old Motoski suit to a buddy I went riding with last year as he had no suit (and I, shall we say, have out grown it. LOL) It was cool to see someone riding wearing that old suit! And, back in the day, I rode with a buddy who had a '72 Zepher and the same suit! We must have been quite a sight on those old Orange sleds!

Had a 197x Moto-ski, every boogie frame bent in the bottomed out position, would get stuck in 6 inches of snow! Lol.
