Found this JD 6 row cotton picker with module maker working in Southern California. The operator said it is still being developed and forbid me from taking pictures (grin).

I think IH has JD beat on this one, but the only thing about the IH design is if you have packed the half bale all you can and your in the middle of the field ? that could be fun. i wonder if they could come up with a trailer sort of like the hay bailers have for the big hay bales to carry it to the end of the field ?,

caleb,

Did you see the bales they had set up under sprinklers to test for weathering effects? When Joel Pigg was here he told me they were collecting water and holding it in the bottom where the plastic wrap comes over the edge of the bale and makes a lip.

Honestly JD probably did the best they could, but I think they lost out.

Thats funny. That same picker Im sure was here in College Station and they were taking it to S Cal from here. The operator that was here with it let me climb all over it, get in the cab everything and I took pictures of most of it. I posted them on here about three months ago. I think its a huge fire trap, masterpice piece of engineering and will teach deere a good lesson. Just my two cents, oh and Im a huge JD fan, just not on this one. My moneys on CaseIH

Most likely because of all that cotton on the ground behind it. That had to come from some place. giggle.

I think John Deere lost out to Case IH on this deal. The half module idea is much better in my opinion than the round bale. Case's deal uses existing module trucks and ginning equipment.

No secret about them now, they were demonostrated at the farm show in Moultrie, GA, last fall. Has a 3ph hitch round bale mover for a large tractor.

Trouble is,as I hear it anyway, the gins aren't set up to handle round bales yet. CaseIH has one too that makes a half length module on the go. Don't know why anybody would have said not to take pictures, they've been on TV plenty.
