Just put up a temporary shelter (garage in a box) and want to ask if any of you folks have any suggestions on the do's and do not's about keeping it together and whole for the winter ? It measures 12' wide by 8' high by 20' long.

I had one for about 4 Months until the Sun ate up the Fabric covering but learned real quick to anchor it down with Concrete around the Legs. Came out one day and it was on top of my 5th Wheel RV Trailer which was parked alongside it. I still have and use it but have put Corrugated Roof and Sides on it. I only covered one end and left one end open. I park my Jeep in it and use it as a Shield from the intense Arizona Summer Sun for it.

My experience is with tarps and haycovers on the farm. Keep everything tight and well anchored. If it starts to move in the wind it won't be long until something lets go. In regards to snow, you have to clear the snow away from the sides or it will build up higher and higher on the walls and eventually the weight is going to damage somehting be it the material or the support posts. The one garage in a box that I see at a farm I go by is already in trouble because they didn't seal up the end and the wind has caused the plastic pipe support on one corner to break. Its the wind that will destroy them so get'er tied down, anchored and tight.

Well, the first retort that comes to mind is "build a garage over it", like Put suggested, but that'd be unkind...
It probably depends on your local weather; if it's canvas or corrugated roofing, and you get a heavy snow, or ice storm...how strong are your winds?? if strong, is the back open, or will it be a big windcatcher, sailing away? I've thought about one in my drive, where the wind can howl, about how to allow part(s) to swing open with the wind...
With so many unknown variables, it's difficult to be helpful...on the distinctly unhelpful side, one could comment that the time to ask this was before purchase, not after, but that'd be unkind, too, so I won't...(Seriously, with sympathy: Bud
