I loosened the nuts on my wipers and turned them up and retightened the nut. They now work again, sort of. They work fine only on high speed but I can shut them off anywhere I want and they stay there. I'm thinking either the switch is buggered or there is a resistor that's bad, which stops low speed from working. Anyone had this problem before? 2000 Chev. 2500 Silverado. Dave

There is a ground strap on them GM wiper motors. Make sure it is hooked around a screw or you will have all kind of strange things going on. Seems to me the wipers park because of a little limit switch in the motor. If linkage is set up wrong, then limit is never actuated and wipers won/t park.

Brothers Lumina APV van wiper motor did the same thing. I looked at the circuit board and found a couple of solder joints that were lose. I resolder the joints and it started working again.

Check for a RECALL in reply to 135 Fan, 12-15-2007 18:15:07
GM has had problems with their wiper motor boards for years and there have been recalls on MANY models about it. I'd call the dealership near you and ask.

My 98 Jimmy acted like that. Intermittant, stop most anywhere, even stop when it wants too. Turned out there is a circuit board in the wiper motor. It was about $25-30 at the parts store. GM wanted over $120. Easy to change just unhook the connector, remove three screws, remove board and replace. Works great now.

Maybe yours is the same way? Hope so

I'll look into that circuit board. The motor works fine on high speed so I doubt it's bad. Most 12 volt motors for heater fans and stuff use a resistor to slow them down. Dave

On mine it would work on highspeed, but on low it was intermittant and park was just plain worthless. On some wiper motors they use a second brush for two speeds, mostly because they want full power just at a lower speed. Don't know is these are this way. I did look up your outfit on partsamerica.com and didn't see the circuit board but the wiper motor was like $126.

More than likely the motor needs to be replaced.
