I've received quite a few tips on starting my tractor---I'll go to work on them. Now, in diesel mode does the rpm's go up until I pull back on the lever or goes down until I raise it? I drained the oil and put in new 5W-20---no help.

I have a shop manual for sale for that engine. Genuine IH, covers everything for the TD 14 engine. Also the TD 18 TD20 & 691 power units

I"ve got that service manual. It does not cover my injector pump, only the shaft driven pump.

Vic, I just read your other post. Sounds to me like the diesel fuel is not shutting all the way off when in gas mode. Might try to adjust the linkage to the injection pump. My 450 done the same thing. It was putting diesel in while I was trying to start and mixing it with gas. That could be where all the black smoke is coming from. As for the rpm problem, I don't have a clue other than maybe governor problems in the pump.

Your BEST bet for info on your TD-14 is to go to REDPOWERMAGAZINE.COM, FORUMS, CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT.

The guys there are THE experts in those old IH machines.

Sorry about the English! I wanted to ask why the rpm won't stay where I put the lever.
