IM RESTORING A FARMALL SMTA AND WISH TO CHANGE IT TO A WIDE FRONT END? HOW DO I IDENTIFY THE CORRECT FRONT WIDE END FOR THIS TRACTOR ? ARE TIE RODS IN FRONT OR BEHIND THE AXLE? HOW DO I TELL IF IT IS ORIGINAL FARMALL OR AFTERMARKET? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Ray: If you combine Steven's photo with what Allan said you have it. Note, in Steven's photo the cast center pivot and tyrods behind the axle.

An original MTA will have a "Z" on the casting numbers

The original wasn't made from angle iron and pipe.

Center section is cast and tie rods behind.
