For those of you that do not live in Iowa, count your blessings. We have some of the nicest quality of life, and blessed overall. Yet with all good comes alot of bad. Yea we are first in the caucases. Big deal you are probably all thinking---Not so darn fast here guys an galls. You all think that to many attorneys are bad, well I'm here to say all the dogs go to their favorite fire hydrant, thats like politicians coming to Iowa. I ain't had much school housin an all, but I did sign up for the don't you dare call list.. Politicians are exempt from this, and with the computer dial a phones the least we get is four calls in the evening, and the most I recall is nine. I have caller I D, but they have that overcome now, and I run a business so I kinda have to take all calls. Now to add to the crappy flavor I must also comment that anyone not living in Iowa must work for survey companies...Yea another five to ten calls every evening. Probably seventy five % are computer recordings---push 1 for this 2 for that. I'm so feed up I have climbed the water tower a few times, and I'm not all that stable in the first place, you know rocking on the edge, in therapy, and collect antique tractors, need I say more.

Well anyway being my original post was on the illegals, have any of you thought that we are wasting our time complaining about it? I'm making the statment that it makes no differance because big business buys our politicians, big business will get there cheap labor force that us Americans won't do. Well at least not for a nickele a hour anyway. So what, I said I would only date hot looking well educated, wealthy, easy going women. I still don't, not because they are not out there buy the way. JUST KINDA CHANGED MY MARGINS. So as with me dating, our imigration officials (hired by our elected officials) will be instructed to make sure the imagrates are alive, will be the only thing they will be forced to make certian of. The rest will be then called LEGAL, and our gates will be opened to everyone. Remember before yelling at me, I admit I'm not real stable----go for it---rip me a new one. Sorry if I offended anyone. Also a suggestion of a 12 guage shooting a phone does NOT work. The other phones keep ringing anyway. thanks ---UNSTABLE NE IA

By all means, come on up for a visit. It's one of the most multicultural cities in the world (100 plus languages and dialects spoken; plus or minus 85,000 immigrants arriving in the last six years alone). I doubt however you'll hear much bitching -- for the most part we celebrate the diversity.

Complex issue. I agree that we should be strengthening our borders. Fence, wall, whatever. If someone can easily cross with the intention of just working in someone's field, what's to stop someone (terrorist) with more evil intentions? But... I also personally know someone that is not here legally and is the nicest, hardest worker you can find. I also have neighbors (American citizens, born & raised here) who are the nastiest, most dishonest people you can imagine. I would trade 10 of them for every 1 of him.

Also, I work in Dearborn, MI which has the highest Arab poplulation in the US, I'm told. Most are here legally (some by marriage fraud) and you would be amazed. They drive Mercedes, have beautiful homes, yet their kids get subsidized school lunches and I see them in the grocery stores with food stamps. Most of the gas stations & party stores are Arab owned (cash businesses). They brag about not paying taxes. Just in the paper here was a story about a Lebanese woman who came over, got citizenship by a fraudlent marriage, went to work for the FBI & CIA and was accessing files (illegally) on Hezbollah. Her BIL is a former Detroit area restaurant owner who is a fugitive in Lebanon (tax evasion), and is known to consort with Hezbollah. They suspect she was feeding him information.

Canada has the same issue with immigrants. Go to Toronto for a weekend and talk to some Canadians.

We don't want Mexicans coming across the border, but we're letting in people (legally) who fill up our graduate and medical schools, taking spots from our kids. Go to a hospital and listen to the doctors pages and check out the name tags, if you don't believe me. Yeah, immigration is a problem, but don't just look to the South of us for the problem.

No joke. What if all illegals were given chance to fight in Iraq for USA. Refusals would be deported. After say 4 years, citizenship granted. Guess an idea is no good if too late, huh?

Only 1 out of three illegals is from mexico, the rest were over here legally until their visa's expired and they didnt bother to renew it.

Buddy of mine says he has the answer. He says we should start an exhange program with Mexico. If the Mexicans could talk one of our wellfare getters to cross into Mexico, they could tear up thier pasport and send one person willing to work over here to take the deadbeat's place.

Your opinion does matter! But it only matters if you take the time to educate yourself on the issue so you know whats going on. Look at what they tried to sneak thru congress last time with the amnesty bill. It was only after everyone really took a look at it and complained that they listened. There are still some in congress (left and right) that know whats right and wrong and are not willing to go along with Pelosi and Reed and the ultra left wingers just to create their own little country full of dependants. So bottom line is you matter. Just keep yourself knowledgeable and dont let your guard down. Most of all, dont depend on the media to let you know whats going on either, they have an agenda too.

Is it legal to shoot Illegal mexicans that break the law? They aint legal anyway...right. Nothing burns my a** more then Illegals that walk right in for free and get a job at wally mart or hanging drywall for a construction outfit. We need a BIG fence along the border with Mexico to keep em out, along with an alligator mote and guard towers every mile armed with guns.

I've preached this same remedy for a long time, only I suggested rotweillers and dobermans instead of the gators, but gators would help also. I too believe they should be enslaved in forced HARD labor camps when captured. Mr. Bob

You ask if it is legal to shoot illegal mexicans that break the law. It must not be. Two border patrol agents are sitting in prison this very minute because they shoot and hit a illegal drug dealer crossing the border. The agents said the illegal pulled a gun, and was going to fire at them. No gun was found, and the illegal ran back into mexico, and came back with his attourney, and with the help of gov. attourneys convicted the two agents. Stan

My 3 year old son came home from preschool the other day counting to 20 in spanish but can"t do it in english wtihout missing a couple digits. They should get all the illegals drunk until they pass out, haul em to Montanna then let them wake up and sneak accross the border into canada.

I don't know about the learning Spanish thing though. When I was in first grade almost 50 years ago,we learned to count and sing some songs in Spanish right here in mid Michigan. At the time we were the biggest pickle producing county in the US and had a huge number of migrant workers here every summer. Their kids always started school with us. They'd stay til October then most would leave. Seems like there was always one more family every year that would stay and get full time factory work or something. A lot of mixed marriages resulted. I DON'T think they were illegals though. They always had Texas plates on their trucks and the kids talked about San Antonio and such places as that. I don't know what ever happened to the kind of program or system that brought people like THAT out to do migrant farm work. Maybe that's what we need to be finding out. I DO know this all started with a program that brought LEGAL,DOCUMENTED workers here during WWII. That's what gets me. Why can't we do that anymore?

Well, you know, they used to let the kids out of school to work in the fields.Help with harvest and such. But child labor laws would prevent that today. One packing plant I worked in had signs in English,Spanish and Laotion.
