i have about 200 bushels of winter rye left over from september.i also have about 25 acres of old sod .can i plow and and then sow the rye in the spring as a go down crop?

Two bushel of rye per acre should be enough unless the ground worked up real rough, so you have plenty of seed.

What is the sod? If its fescue, it might be getting late to get it plowed and worked up enough to kill it out.. of course if you are just wanting to work the rye back up as a green manure crop I guess a little fescue growing in it wouldn't hurt. Other sod may not be as hard to kill out.

But I think your plan should work. Too bad you didn't get it worked up two months ago, but sometimes it just doesn't all come together like we would like.
