I currently have 16.9 x 26 rear tires on my Allis Chalmers D-15 series II. One of the tires is real bad and it"s time to replace it. Just to get a used tire that size seems to be almost $500. My question is, will a 14.9 x 26 fit my rim (12" wide). If it does maybe it would make more sense to by two new tires at $350 each and have two matching tires.

Also, has anyone had experience with Nebraska tire overstocks and cosmetic blemish tires? They seem to have some 14.9 x 26 for around $259.

What about going up to a 28" rim? It'll proably sit higher in the back but they're a bit more common than a 26"

I think that's what my brother might do when he replaces the tires on the back of his 550. It's got 13.6-26's on it now. OK condition and they'll go round for a few more years yet, but he is gonna paint it and they don't match so we'll see how far he wants to go with it.

Where you located? I might be able to help. Tires, rims and tubes off of a old IH combine.

It'll work just fine. The 14.9 was designed for a 12" rim.

I'm not sure what you're using the tractor for but I'd sure be looking for a way to get more rubber on the ground, not less. I know tires are expensive but a smaller tire will limit your tractor. A 16.9x26 is pretty skimpy already for a tractor that size.

Haven't had any experience with Nebraska Tire on tractor tires, but I've had miserable experience with their car and light truck tires.

Also their balancing. I don't know if it's their machines or the operators, but whenever they balanced wheels for me, they never seemed quite right. I have a bubble balancer in my shop, and I've taken wheels that Nebraska Tire has freshly balanced, put them on my bubble balancer, and had them lean over to one side.

My Olds takes 225-60-16 tires. Last summer I bought a pair of new take-offs from Nebraska Tire and mounted them myself. A couple of days later, our daughter was visiting and drove up to Mason City, Iowa to visit friends, about a six hour drive each way. First time I drove the car after she came back, I thought something wasn't right. I checked and one of the new fronts had blown two big blisters on one sidewall. Then NT didn't have an identical tire for a replacement, so they wound up giving me a pair of brand new high dollar Cooper tires at no extra charge.

'Nuff sed about Nebraska Tire.

The 14.9x26 is what the D-15 series II came from the factory with.
