I HAVE A OLIVER ENGINE I NEED HELP ON HOW TO IDENTIFY IF IT IS A 283 OR A 310 AND WHAT IT THE COMPRESSION ON EACH.I NEED A CASTING BOOK ANY IDEAL ON WHERE I CAN GET ONE? NEW TO TRACTOR PULLING!

You posted over on the Oliver forum that it's a 1964,but you didn't say what model. So...what model? Post the tractor model number and serial instead of just engine casting numbers so we have something to start with.

The model is unknown I am guessing it is a 1850 or 1800 the engine is not in a tractor!!! Would like to know by the casting numbers since I don't have the tractor.

I thought 1850's used a Perkins 6-354. Dave

The easy answer is if one has a hole in it's side then it's a 310 HA-HA . Sorry couldn't resist .
