Mornin' All,

Just got word last night that there is a trailer load of combine parts that left southern Indiana at 4pm eastern and is now sitting in west central Illinois.

Rumor has it that said load will be in central Iowa by Monday.

Kind of a "progression of events" and we're makin' headway here.

Thanks fellas, I'd better get busy! :>)

Allan

I'm begining to wonder if history isn't about to repeat itself ? He seems bound and determined to keep "farming" until he runs out of money again ?

Hey now wait just a derned minute!

Yesterday, I'm almost certain that I found a 5/16" lockwasher that can be re-used.

So see there, all is not lost. :>)

Hi Allan. Way to keep the crowd informed. Less chance of a riot that way. How much stuff is there to haul. Will it fit in an 8' pickup box or will it need a trailer? My dad usually delivers travel trailers all over the nation and Canada but has been home for a long time now and is getting bored. Could check with him to see what he has going west. Is the part load going to be at Slorolls place at Grinnell? My dad and I visited there last fall. See if we can help. Let me know. Migraine

Hi Ol' Bud,

It "Should" all fit in a full-sized, long-box and yes, will be at Sloroll's place on Monday.

Walkers are lite/loose and I worry about the wind catchin' them. Elevator is long and would stick out over the tailgate just a bit.

I "think" the total load shouldn't weigh much more than what? 1300lbs? The engine pod would probably have to be tied down with a binder so it doesn't tip. It's only 25" wide and about 4' tall.

Yes, ask him please?

Allan

Busy ain't the word, don't think there's been any lack of that as you'll be done sooner than you thought with this one the way you're goin and we'll be asking what you're going to pull on us next to overhaul so we can watch.

On top of that, it must be getting cold by now, which always makes working on things more interesting, that alone sometimes lets the air out of my sails around here, was about 12 degrees this morning at 6:00 a.m. here.

Yeah, it's cold.

Pulled the old skater around behind an old shed to help break the wind out there on the prairie. Been wearing four layers to keep warm.

I think I just got "busy" tho. Been thinking that with 11,000 hours, should I probably pull that feeder house and replace the bushings on the pivot shaft?

That one is akin to jacking up a house to replace the foundation.

Yes it's true, I'm certifiable. :>(

Yeah- pull it now....it"s going to break anyway, and when all the new parts are in place, it will weigh more and be harder to handle!.

Certified already, but it's better than being un-certified, and well as the saying goes, at least you'll know what you have when you're done..... of course the getting done part is the catch here.

Any windbreak sure helps, and when you're busy, no time to be cold..... but somehow that never works the way it sounds, I'm stuck in it all next week, up on an aerial lift basket up on the side of a building, but like you've said before, at least I'm not workin for the man ;-) !

Looks like you are getting the York AC compressor as part of the bargain.

Yeah, that was the deal.

Every blessed thing touching or attached to that motor including the wiring, coolers, radiators, exhaust, air intake, radiators, starter, alternator, belts, etc., etc. The whole and complete pod.

Plus all four complete walkers, return elevator, feeder beater and a box of sprokets and stuff. All in all, quite a load.

Donor machine had 1200 documented hours on the separater and 1800 on the engine. Right out of the corn field and if truth be known, probably in one heck of a lot better shape than the one I'm working on. :>)

He said that he had broken out that big curved windsheild. Was cheaper for him to just go buy another combine. :>)

Wow it is barely broken in and with all the extras it should cut the reconstruction time considerably.
