Guys, I'm feeling pretty good right now. I've been in the local Tractor Supply probably 15 times over the last several months getting parts/nuts and bolts. I always talk with the cute girl who works there, about my age (late 20's). Well I was in there last night and she was gone, got up the courage to ask the other girl about her. Turns out she's single, so I went back in tonight and asked her to go out to eat tomorrow, she said yes and seemed excited. Sometimes you just have to take a chance in life.

Atta kid! There's a few girls at the hardware store I always go to, but they're not my type. Turns out they're going to build a TSC in town, though : )

In order to have a successful marrige, it is important that you have a woman that is: 1. a good listener, 2. a woman that is a good cook, and, 3. a woman that is good in bed.

It is imperative though that these 3 women never meet up!

Thanks for all the advice and good luck guys. She called once she got off work and we talked 40 min. last night, so far real good. I'll let you know what happens. I'll work on being a good listener, and of course remember that she's someone's daughter!

"I'll work on being a good listener, and of course remember that she's someone's daughter!"
Be careful how you play that hand, I`ll bet she`s not thinking about being someone`s daughter when she`s with a guy she likes, she probably wants to feel like a desirable woman.

I just wonder how many of these guys lost out by using the wrong tactics. They all seem to speak of experience telling what not to do.

Good luck! I won't get into talking about how you could end up getting married to her like some of the other guys- For Gods sake, it's only the 1st date!!

Be yourself, treat her right, and see where the chips fall.

I am going to disagree with MF poor just a little bit. Go into this with the greatest expectation of yourself, who you are and what you are all about. Listen carefully, it will pay many times over. Enjoy yourself, while dating do not try to bend yourself into something you are not. Have fun, that is what it is all about, she will understand that. Perhaps some women will voice in with other ideas, but I will remain hopelessly romantic while I try to get my Farmall M started.

Don't try to impress her too much on a first date. Best to keep her guessing. A buddy of mine had a late 1960 something Mustang muscle car. Back when cars were cars. It was the hottest, loudest, fastest and flashiest thing you ever saw. He never took it on a date. He always took his dads old chore car (the date-mobile) that was full of dirt, manure, mice, junk and reeked of hog $hit. No fancy resturants either. Don't be crude, you still need to be a gentleman, but mostly be yourself. If she goes on a second date then she wants you for you and not your wallet or what you drive. He had many "one-timers" that wouldn't go twice, but he married the girl that would go anywhere in that car with him and to this day they are very happily married. Don't know how long they dated before she found out he had a flashy hot rod in the garage and a healthy checkbook, but I guess that was the point.

I guess I don't totally agree with a car that smells like hog feces is the way to go, I'll bet he problably lost some women that might have made good wives. Not going overboard with an elaborate dinner and making yourself out to be rich is one thing, but to drive a car thats that bad isn't good either. I think you can learn far more about them just by listening to them. You can tell if they got expensive tastes by what they say and how they act. Make sure you wear some nice shoes, believe it or not its claimed to be the first thing a woman notices about a man and its important to them thats why every woman in america has got a pair of shoes for every occasion. Income is also pretty important, while I agree they need to like you for you, if they think your totally broke, thats a turn off. I'd take her to a place classier than the golden arches, I'd go to a middle of the road resturant, or basically a place that has good food for reasonable prices.
Good luck,

Don't go into this with great expectations. Let things take there natural course. If she is "the one", you'll know soon enough. If she ISN'T you don't want to force yourself into a situation you can't get out of.

ENJOY the date. It's been 42 years since I went on my last "first date". 2 years later we were married. 40 years, 3 kids, 5 grandkids, and one greatgrandkid later, I wouldn't change a thing even if I could. Finding the right woman to spend your life with is the greatest thing that can happen to a man. Getting stuck with the wrong one is the worst thing that can happen. Go slow, have fun. Ask her how much the employee discount is too!

Trevor,
Enjoy your dinner date. The best chance for meeting a good woman is when you are not looking for them. This is what my wife told me when I met her at a night club on Block Island,RI on July 4,1993.Good thing she likes to talk ,speech was getting difficult if you know what I mean .Still happily together.
Keep us posted.

Found my best friend just about exactly 40 years ago this month. Been married 37, and I never consider her a ball and chain. She"s probably the reason I"m still around. I owe her more "n I can say. Follow your heart, treat her like a queen, and see what develops.

Good Luck! My only advice would be to treat her like a lady. Best advice I ever got was "remember, she is someone's daughter. Treat her like you'd want your daughter treated." I'm sure my wife would agree that I have followed that advice for the past 9 years real well.

Met my wife in a bar-restaurant, 58 years ago! Blind date, arranged by a guy i worked with. Hit it off great from the first date, got along good, she could cook really well--i decided i'd best not let that fish off the hook, so we married in September, 1950, bought a nice little house, and still live in it! Had a lot of good times, a few bad times, but it all worked out ok for us. So, go on the date-don't act like a fool, and it might work out for you! Rustyj
