Now, I ask ya,

What's not to like about a fine quality unit like this? Other than the fact that I couldn't get it to run (no engine)? :>)

Did you buy the complete combine including walkers and engine or are you still needing my engine unit. I have been busy and haven't been watching the board too closely. Should be wrapping up harvest soon so I can watch this F2 come to life again!

Hi Buddy!

Don't know for sure yet, what I'll need. :>)

Found a fella down south of you that had the exact twin to my machine. Was in the field doing corn, but that expensive curved windshield had gotten broken. He said it was cheaper for him to buy his neighbor's combine than to buy that windshield, so he's parting out the original machine.

Bought the total engine assembly area, the four "corn-soybean special" walkers and some other odds and ends that I knew I'd need.

Haven't talked to him for a few days. Last I knew he had the engine out and was working on those "knuckle-bleeding" walkers. :>)

I'll sure let ya know when I find out.

Allan

Looks like it has a wide stance, is that so it can straddle four 30" rows? Always liked the look of those gleaners, neigbors ran a G for many years and then a L2, hope you can figure out a way to get that silver shine back after all the mechanical work is done, take care.

Yeah,

How does that play out? Standard tread stradles 2 38"s and with the extensions, it stradles 4 30"s. Quite a difference anyhoo. :>)

Hi Pat,

This morning while I was waiting on the semi, I sat down and added up what I've already spent on this old piece of iron since it was brand new.

Won't repeat it here, but gotta tell ya, it's a shocker. :>(

Gotta stay busy or I go depressed. Just keep puttin' one foot in front of the other. :>)

Planter and cultivator were some of the first implements I bought.

Had 'em tuned, overhauled and ready for the field long, long ago. :>)

Slap you a small block Chevy up there, Guy near me had a Gleaner model ? with a 292 Chevrolet 6 cylinder and another bigger combine with a 350 V-8. They were gas hogs but they would forever more get the job done!! Both better engines than that thin AC DT-301, think they call it a 2900 series.

My mistake, I now see it's a F2, little 4 cylinder turbocharged 200cid diesel. 95 hp in this part of the world.

No,

This is a '77 short-tail model. Takes the 6-cylinder 2800 diesel.

Motor/cradle/etc. should be on the way from Indiana shortly along with the walkers.

Looks Good To all Gleaner guys I'm sure. Looks like we need one cab glass and maybe a few throat repairs but at least it rolls and has most of the shields. BIL and I are thinking of taking off for Havre Montana this weekend to look at an L2 and a header. He has a possible buyer for his F. But we are really looking for a 14 or so foot header not the 24' that the L2 has on it. Know of any small headers with pickup reels around? We really need pickup reel for what we are doing here. What parts are you looking for the ole girl as we will be looking at several gleaner used yards on the way and over in Mont. Can sure keep an eye out for your needs . Let me know. Also if you hear or know of anything that needs to be hauled from here going East we are looking for something to help with fuel costs. Thanks Migraine

Boy!

I can't remember ever seeing anything smaller than an 18' around these parts. My F also came with a 13' pickup header, but it hailed from over at Sheridan Wyo.

All I can think of that I still need is the cooler for the Hydro. Core measures about 14" x 14" or so and is larger than the standard hydraulic cooler on the variable speed versions.

Should have everything else coming.

Thanks Pard,

Allan

Allen, even you never get it running again you can always sit in that fancy cab and pretend that you are working a big field. Liston to the radio to make feel right.

That's just great! I see a picture of it loaded, and a picture of it unloaded, but how in the world did you get it off the trailer? And ya know, I'm liking to looks of those Gleaners every time you post a picture...futuristic-looking I guess is a word I could use.

I took the hydro tractor and easily pulled on 'er with a log chain.

The driver held it back with tension on the winch hooked to her tow hook and we just eased it down off of the ramp.

Wow, have I ever bitten off a load! Guess I'll just start on it and come up for air when it's done. :>(
