The power steering on my 880 diesel works intermitently and when it does it"s not very good. The actual steering unit under the radiator leaks, but i always top off the reservoir before starting it. One of the teeth broke off the helical gear in the pump and i JB welded it back on and since then it has not worked correctly.I tried to find a new pump, and was told that they are next to impossible to find. Does anyone know where i can get a seal kit and/or parts. It is the Gemmer model with the pump driven off of the generator. Thanks!

That pump (driven off the back of the generator) was also used on some GM cars in the late '50's- Chevy, for one, and maybe some others- I got a generator and pump for $75 at a swap meet, took the pump off and put it on the back of the generator of my 550, and it worked perfectly. Might be another route to check.

I had my Gemmer unit repaired by "TOM"at Maibach trector. Took about 3 months but it was done right and reasonable.

Just got done rebuilding my gemmer steering unit on my 880.I was told most Agco dealers should have the seals in stock. I tryed Maibach's in Ohio and was told they didn't have the seals.I got my seals from Phil's/Co-op parts in harleyville PA. email address> Philnoreenh@cs.com
or phone 215-256-8651. The seals are the new updated vertion. Mike
