I'm thinking if I can pull this off I'd like to have it either Oct. 11 or 18 (Saturday) next year.
My birthday is on the 12th so maybe that weekend. It'd probably be a little warmer out too, but if it's like this year it'll still be in the 70's.

I could probably go to the local butcher shop and get a box of brats and a box of burgurs, some buns and a couple cases of soda, water, whatever, and have a cook out. For sure wouldn't be able to fill everyone's tank and sure would hope no one would expect me to.

We'd have about 30 acres of ground to plow, give or take. Mostly corn, and some pumpkin ground. Hay we plow under after 1st crop and put corn in on it. My brother and I grow and sell pumpkins, so you guys could bring the wife and kids and they would have something to do as well.

We've got 3 plows, an Oliver 546 4-16, an Oliver 565 3-16, and what I think is a little wonder, 2 bottom trailer plow. Not sure how wide that one is. I would have the 1855 hooked to the 546, but would probably be willing to let others hook to the other 2 if they want to give it a try. I would probably mention it to Ron out at Tesch Bros. Imp. out in Seymour, see if he would want to bring out his big 2150 (I think that's what it is) with the 3 bottom spinner he's got on it.

How does that sound? I may just talk Dad into letting me do this next year and see how it turns out. Maybe it can even get turned into a small show... Would be kinda fun...

With that amount of ground if you let in plows with more than 2 bottoms you will run out of plowing before noon and what are you going to do the rest of the day? Had a plow day several years ago, 28 acres and about 3 in afternoon it was all plowed. Mostly 2 or 3 bottoms with a single in there and I believe if I remember right 1 4 bottom. Set the camper in the field for rest break and lunch, forget what had for sure but set up the grill to cook it and step son did the cooking and enjoyed it (full city boy), you will also need about 5 acres for truck-trailer parking and unless the 2 fields are just across the fence it will cause a problem.. I belong to several antique machinery clubs but just the one all I invited as the others are not as much interested. You need to be involved with a club because it is too much work for you to just do by yourself. At plow days around here no one expects you to furnish fuel. Just be prepaired for a field that is very uneven as all different size plows a 16" following a 12" will not be able to put that 16" slice into the opening of the 12" and vice versa the 12" will not be able to fill the 16" furrow so it will be like a ditch everytime. Mine was on Sept 30 in wheat stubble and on that morning the ground was white with frost but warmed up nicely during the day. That late it might be just too cold to drive an old open tractor several miles to get to your place as not all will be able to haul them. For my day they came from 3 mile to 70 mile away.

Count me in Don. That will give me incentive to get the "H" done. That should pull your "little wonder" otherwise I'll bring my JD #52 2-14. Let me know if I should bring a grill or anything when the time comes.

I'm sure something could be worked out...;-) Not sure if I could let anyone drive one of my Ollies though... I hardly let dad touch the 1855 as it is- I'd have to say it's the one I enjoy driving the most despite how proud I am of Grandpa's 1600 that I rebuilt.

A group by Hortonville had a plow day the last two years. There was a sign out front saying that it was sponsored by the FVTC. You could try to contact them since the technical college is real close to you. Another guy North of Hortonville also had a plow day. He's in the local two cylinder club. If you need names, let me know. Since your an Oliver guy, I could bring an 80 with 3-14s or, a 60 with 1-16

See you local Banks and other ag related business, they might want to help out. Around here the Federal Land Bank brings coffee and cookies to land sales and plowing days.

Not to throw cold water on your party but I'd say no alcoholic beverages for saftey sake. Now if you want to have a get together and swap stories, watch a few tractor videos, Yeah, bring on the drinks and have a good time. But when there is machinery around it needs to be out.

Were talkin' Wisconsin here. Heck, our first beer is in a bottle with a nipple on it. Seriously though - sound advice.

Well, you have to start somewhere and it sounds like you have a workable plan. Wondered if you could get local FFA or 4H club involved to help with meal? Chris

Here's a link to a satelite picture of our place a few years ago- I think 2004 by the way the corn fields look w/ the patch of sweet corn in the middle.

Yup, that's us. The home peice is about 50 acres, and then we've got about another 20 or so up the road a couple miles.

Chris, You can go to Google and then click on Google Maps. Type in your address or just your zip code. In the upper right corner of the map click hybrid. On the left side is a scale that zooms in and out. Also the mouse pointer becomes a hand over the map. Click and hold to move the map. Have fun.

I also do "local.live.com" and type in a local town. This is a bit easier to move around in.
