one local yard wont even take tractors they can not crush the cast the other one just ships them whole and will take them off your hands. what is wrong with buying it for scrap price they are not going to give her anymore at the yard because it is retorable

I think (but am open to correction if I"m wrong) the question was about ethical behavior; that if you found a restorable tractor (or other item) that had more than scrap value, AND the owner (pressed for money and having no knowledge of collectors) was intending to sell it to a scrapyard, would offering scrap price, or slightly over, be ethical, if the unit could immediately be resold, as is, to collectors for --- times (fill in your own figure) what you offer?? Some years ago I paid most of wife"s tuition by buying and reselling, mostly cars, but other things; I never found any really "sweet" deals, so never really had to answer the question (and don"t know what I would"ve done at that time).

Here they use a big jaw to break up the castings and sort out the steel gears and shafts. That stuff is quite valuable. In the old days stout men broke them up with sledgehammers. So, what was your question Clint?
