Some one wrote a book this year about making a concerted effort to not buy Chinese made anything for an entire calendar year - her family didn't get past the summer. Look at your canned foods, your electronics, your aftermarket machinery parts, and you just can't avoid it. We decided to fix rather than replace an older stereo. We were asked why fix when the repairs cost can almost buy new? It's all about sacrifice. You will pay way more to avoid buying China anything, or pay heaps to repair something older in order to avoid buying new China anything.

On the other hand, when we weren't trading with them we were more likely to have a war with them. As their customers we have more clout with them.

Needed a hydraulic pump for a 560 International tractor. A 560 is about as American as you can get. Guess what, If you go with the aftermarket new Hydraulic pump, Its made in China. Needed a new Tachometer for my John Deere 6030. Bought it and sure enough, Made in China.

It's made in China because people don't want to pay for having it made here... or I should say people don't want to pay for a quality product. The want cheap, so cheap is what they get. The unfortunate truth is that most of what is made here is just as cheaply made today.
There are premium products out there that will last and go the distance, but how many people are willing to buy them? Therin lies the problem....

Its really simple if your willing to pay the cost of American made products buy them.

What do you want that you really cant locate made in the US ?

As I see it yes a lot of junk is brought in from China but the only reason that it is brought in is that it sells.

Teach the importers a lesson dont buy the crap.

It would cost you more in the long run but you would be supporting your own country and companies that still do business here that haven't sold out or outsourced the labor to India or Mexico.

BUY American or soon there will be nothing American made.

When I bought a Fram transmission filter and opened the box, and found the filter was made made in China I was disapointed to say the least. I bought a water pump from Napa, because I wanted a good one. I got home opened the box, mde in China again. My MF 231 was made in Poland. Just can't win. Stan

I guess i do need to add that they do build the transformers from scratch. The only thing they buy is the insulators which come from Cooper, im not sure where they get them, everything else is made from steel, copper, aluminum, paper and oil.
In house at that.

I guess credit is due in that point anyway.

I work for a major transformer mfg. co. here in south MS. They branched out into building ballast for flourscent lights, they built them for a short time and then started buying them in bulk from..... you guessed it....China. Seems they could just buy them, put their label on them, box them and sell to make a huge profit. If you look close enough youll find, made in china, in very fine print somewhere on them. If you dont look close youll think you are buying American made.
I do not work for the ballast division. Im not happy with what they are doing but gotta pay the bills somehow and its the best one can do here and not leave home to work.
