No, not like the song :-) I took that plow out with the kuboder, killed the radio, shooed the neighbor kid from the cab and revved the engine and put it in low, then slowly lowered the plow and started moovin. The tranny did its little noise, but it was very quiet so I kept on plowin for 10 feet or so then just kept on goin. I soon plowed one field and then one of my friends came over end rode along for a few hours, and I got about 1/3 of the big field done real good. I set it to cut about 4-6 incles deep at my discresion, and everything worked like a charm. Took the plow off then gave a hayride to some of the local kids. The plow is over by my garage, tomorrow morning I'll get up early and give it a nice coat of Ford Red paint (not on the moldboards) so it'll look orignal and will be dry when I get home from school. Its really IH red, but I looked at some of the old paint and its close enought, i guess. The coulters are almost touching the moldboards, about 8/10 of an inch between them. I'll have to post a picture. Well, thanks for your advice, and whoever brought it up, I plan to stick with tractors and (hobby) farming for quite a while. I love playing with anything with an engine, wanna be an AG mechanic someday. Well, thanks again!

Serious question. How do I teach my sons to drive the tractor if we can't ride double?

Doesn't that B3030 have a hydro transmission? If it does I don't think I'd be doing any plowing with it, there not really built for that kind of work.

Someone mentioned a while ago you could damage the tranny on your tractor with that plow. You should check with the dealer if the tractor is designed for long hard pulling. Another issue is safety. It is never a good idea to have any passengers on a tractor. Never! The number one lawn mower accident is from kids falling off of a riding mower while mom or dad is taking them for a ride. A tractor is no different. A few years ago a farmers young son fell out of the cab on a JD and was run over by the back tires and killed. It is much better if people just watch from a distance. You have a nice tractor so you have to be careful not to abuse it by working it too hard. There are tons of people on here with 30, 40, and 50 years and more old tractors that are still running. This is because of proper use and maintenance. Repairs aren't cheap and new tractors are a fortune. Read the manual carefully about how the tractor should be used. It will add years to its useful service life. Dave

Lanse, why would you want to be an Air Gun Mechanic? You'll never have time to play with your toys:)

Buy a can of cheap spray paint(your choice of color,I use silver) and spray the shiny parts of the plow(moldboard, landside, colters)this will keep them from rusting and will scour off the first time you use it again. You can also put grease on them but I like the paint as its not as messy. Bill M.

Not only is the grease messy, it also comes off if your storage is the same as most other plows- the great out doors. It may not come off right away, but if it sits long enough without being used, it'll sure be rusty by the time you use it again.

Spray paint lasts much longer. We've got a 3-16 plow we haven't used in probably 4-5 years since we bought our 4-16 plow. Most of the paint is still on it. I got it out this year, and I'm gonna shine it up again and paint the bottoms again.
