I have a set of tractor tire chains I purchased at an auction that came off a AC WD. I got them pretty cheap with plans to enlarge them to fit my 720 S Deere. The pile of chains had 2 complete tire chains and about 20 spare cross bars. I am looking for a place to buy about 10 feet of the elongated link chain to use for the side rails on mine. I have already used some of the spare cross bars and lengthened the cross bars to fit on my 18.4 tire but the chains still are about 2 feet short of being able to be buckled. Anyone know of a good source for this long link chain? Appreciate the help.

You need "hard" chain. Any road travel will flatten the links out in a few miles if the cheapest soft chain is used. Found that out with the economy chains the previous owner purchased for my tractor. Unwrapping the mess out from around the rear axle while the tire was going flat was no fun. All this getting sprayed with the cold wet Calcium Chloride ballast. After ripping my snow suit was the finishing touch.

I have purchased sections of tire chain at Mills Fleet Farm. Just add on to the end and you're good to go. Just be sure you get the right width to match your exsisting size.

An industrial supply that sells tractor chains and skidder chains should have it. I bought LeClede chains for my tractor and in their catalogue they list all the different types of chain for all tractor sizes and how much is needed. Hope this helps. Dave
