A surgeon removed something or other a week ago last Wed. Late last Sat eveing I wondered if something was wrong and went to the hospital Sunday morning. Well I started to seriously bleed out and would have died without getting a blood transfusion by Monday night. Thanks by the way to all you type "O positive" blood donors. Dr. Killdead the specialist I"m seeing and quite likely caused the situation. He still isn"t certain what"s wrong and putting off more "inspections" until Friday. Well I"m getting awfull hungry & bored. Right now a glass of water and a banana would be a feast. Missing a whack of overtime $$$ at work too as we are entering our peak season. Wish Dr. Killdead had been more carefull and less hurried. My sistor the ER RN & Paramedic is going to "tear him a new one" today. I feel like crap here at the hospital library computer hooked to a IV pole.

Gents
Even though was a minor mishap with my test last week. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let that stop you from booking an appointment with your DR.
The risk of a complication is hundreds of times less than not getting scoped, prostate checked & blood sample taken for lab work.
It would not have been serious if I had not been so stubborn and went to ER on Sat night instead of late morning Sunday. Thanks again to all of you in the medical community. Both those of you visible and those of you behind the scenes that make the system work.
And thankyou again to you blood donors with the clean blood. It would have been a funeral if at least 3 of you didn't roll up your sleeves.

Geez BD, you sound like me. I went in to get a halo brace on a broken leg and the Doc didn't like the way my lungs sounded so in for a X-ray.

As luck would have it they found a siler dollar sized growth on my lung so in for a biopsy. The Doc stuck me with a 3/32" hollow SS tube thru my back into the lung to snip off a piece.

I started spitting up a kidney shaped bowel of blood on every exhale and shooting blood to the ceiling on every inhale in the CT-scan room. Doc had hit a major bleeder in my lung.

Then the Doc says "Damn I don't know how to stop this" and takes off to call my attending Doc. Geez what's that Doc gonna do when he's 10 miles away?

When I hear the panic in his voice I told the Doc, geez we started this problem, we can stop it, pull that damn tube out of my back.

As soon as he pulled the tube out, I stopped bleeding. Turned out to be a Valley fever spot. Valley fever is a sickness you get from the Arizona soil or feels like the worst case of flu that you've ever had and leaves behind a spot on your lung.

Get well soon! Chase the female nurse's around to keep from getting bored. The male nurse's are too easy of a catch...LOL

Glen, it seems many doctors anymore try to "not do harm" rather than heal, trying to avoid lawyers, which in effect causes more trouble than it saves. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Get well soon. Mike

You are welcome. I like to think the blood I donate saves the lives of people like you. I suspect however that it often gets used to save the punk gangbangers that shoot and slice each other up.

Now you've got me scared! I'm going in next week for a new right knee. I'm hoping that I don't wake up with a new left elbow especially if it's on my left knee. Good luck. Hope your better soon.

I hope you recover soon. I know how the over time really comes in handy. I did a lot of it when I had my factory job.I am beggining to trust doctors less, and less I had something cut out of my rist, and it has been sore ever since. Going on 2 years now. Mom went in the Hospital with a broken bone in her leg, developed severe pains in her stomach. in 5 months they never did find out what it was. She finally fell out of bed at the hospital, and laid on the floor until she went into a coma, and never recovered. Stan

Boy,don't I know how that is. My apendix ruptured 10 years ago. Was in the hospital for 8 days. Fourth nite I woke up in a pool of blood. The infection had burst out through the staples. They ended up sending me home with it packed and open. First time back to the doctor,I told him something was wrong,it felt swollen. He told me I was just getting fat from sitting. I wound up back in the ER in more pain than when it ruptured. They opened me back up and I was filled with infection. Packed me with it open again and sent me home. Took about 3 months to recover as well as I ever will. Between the fever, infection and pharmaceuticals,I have problems with my memory that I'll never get back. Headaches, blood sugar problems. Good part of my life that I just plain don't remember. Hope ya feel better soon. At least you can get on line at the hospital,I couldn't even walk to the nurses station.

Wow, needing a blood transfusion because of the removal of a polyp is out of the ordinary. Can't help but wonder what else was nicked to cause that much bleeding.

I have found that the old ugly ones take better care of you. The really pretty ones hate to even touch that bed pan and do the paper work. I did ask one pretty one if she did herself the same way she did me. I think the pretty one was trying to follow the advice of Cheryl Crow.

I have spent a few days in the Hospital myself and know just what it is like. you tend to sleep a lot just out of boredom.

My mother had very rare blood RH-Neg I think and the only person they could find was my Uncle to match her when she needed a transfusion. Thanks God you have a common one. Anyway have fun in there and don't tease the nurses they come back and get you later when you are sleeping.
Walt

PS I hope all the nurses are young and pretty nothing is worse than an OLD UGLY NURSE.

Seems like you and your sister have it all figured out. All of it except for the part about not knowing what something or other was removed that Wednesday. If I were you I'd want a better understanding of the problem before "tearing Dr. Kildead a new one" or you might regret it. Life and diseases are complex. They're not always someones fault.

Thanks guys. I really do appreciate the thought's, prayers, kind words & even the humour.

Polyp of currently unknown composition from the secum. Just past where the large & small bowel "join" and very near where the appendix would be attached. Now we are wondering why I'm still on just saline solution and no fluids of any type. No reason why dextrose ( sugar ) could not be added to the saline for some energy. And allow some ice chips or clear fluids. My sistor is getting some some people answering with " um, eh, well, er ..... . I don't know" etc. Dr. did not even order any blood clotting agent to be added while I was actively bleeding. He didn't order a lab tets for my bloods clotting ability either? Still, I'm alive at the moment.

Well B/D , you are alive for a reason and that should be a good feeling. Glad to see you figured out a way to stay on the forum. We need more people in this world that will state the facts and worry less about candy coating to make people feel good as apposed to educating them. People may not always agree with you but you are usually pretty close if not right on. You also throw in a little doccumentation to add basis to your stand which is a nice touch. Get them people straightened away and get well and back out having some fun. (don't call working overtime "fun" though)LOL. "B"

Hopefully the Dr. isn't a red tractor owner who doesn't like the green ones. I know some of the guys on here are pretty partial to their own brand. I'm sure they'll figure it out and you'll be fine. The good thing is at least you have bed in the hospital and they can monitor you. There have been some problems even getting a bed up here and people are being sent home who shouldn't be. Get well soon. Dave

I was in the hospital for 6 months, first ICU, and a room then physical therapy. Felt like I was leaving home when I finally got to leave. I was paralized from the bottom of my rib cage down, but finally got all back exept my lower right leg.

I've had a kidney transplant so am familiar with hospitals. If you want to screw with them. have someone get a clean plastic urinal. Have them put your favorite soda in there. Mountain dew works good, right color. When the Dr. or head nurse comes in take it off the rail where it hangs and take a big slug of it. I freaked out a little Pakastani Dr. that way once. They wanted a urine speciman to check for blood in the urine. I used Dr. Pepper. He about died when he first saw the color, then when I drank it, that was about it. Different cultures react differently to jokes. He said "Oh Mr. Painter, you make a funny".

Keep your spirits up..

Gene
