Sugarfarm what these boys are tringing to tell you they don't know a thing about a jd 40. What I try to do on the wireing is to make note of how the wire is run and replace it that way.

Try not properly restoring you tractor. How do you have enough $$$ to purchase, restore, insure, operate & store a tractor? And you can't afford a factory manual for the price of a month's satellite TV, a 24 of beer and a pizza?

have you ever restored a tractor of any kind? if you have you might know what the costs are ,maybe not.to buy a 150.00 dollar service manual seems a bit much for a wiring diagram. thanks anyway

Of course you can always just ask every question that comes up on here and we will jump to your every command so you can save the $150 or so on a manual. But ouldn't it be easier to just pick up your manual and se what you want without having to type it in here and wait and hope that someone will have the info, the correct info.

Me I always get a manual for every thing that I own yes I have a lot in manuals but then i have all the info right at my finger tips.
